Does anybody like Virtual Pet games?

I've always loved casual games that let you do cute things like that. I grew up playing neopets, starbitspets, and other similar games, and those games are really what inspired me to make stories that have intense plots and cool characters.

Speaking of which, I just uploaded the prologue to my comic, which is about virtual pet games.

...I still have my Neopets account. I drop by to play games there when I'm really bored. I know the site is owned by some Scientology guy atm and it's basically an internet wasteland now, but I just can't let go of my pets. xD

You are blessed. I lost my original account due to being inactive and not having my old ancient email when I tried to go back to it, so I gave up.

Ice Cream Factory is still the jam though.

Seeing as pokemon is what made me want to play neopets back in the day, I'd say it sorta counts! I think "battling pets" is a sister genre kinda.

I used to play neopets with my friends, my brother loved the minigames, so he got tons of neopoints while i did my homework. It was the perfect plan.

But eventually i got bored of the game, so i gave my shoyru to a friend.

yeah, mostly because i loved playing the games and the fights.

And had to give him the punny name of Shoryouken XD

i discovered that bottled fairies gave powers among my group of friends and blew their mind, because they knew powers existed, but didn`t know how to get them.

Oh gosh the bottled fairies thing was so odd with them also being full grown women?? Let them out?

I was one of those “learn it all by myself and then roll in like i knew what I was doing the whole time.” types.... and all my pet names were names my 12yo self thought “sounded japanese”... why...this was pre anime boom...

yeah...one could argue about the dark implications of imprisoning a sentient species so they give you power in exchange of their freedom XD and buy/sell them too. Some slavetrader was out there in the fairy kingdom and no one know who he/she is XD

i just made one neopet and focussed on him (i was too lazy to take care of more than one and is not like the gameplay changed too much with other ones.

for D&D i used names that sounded medieval, and sounded cool for me.

How cool! I have a goatlings, furvilla, and a flightrising! I am not too active on any of them but I like to play them when I’m havin a sick day. (I can just call it networking, since my audience is people who like pet games...right?)

My highest leveled neopet is at level 59 lol not even a hundred yet like the others

But wow, that’s impressive still. I was too young and stupid to understand how to really do the battles. Haha. My pets were basically ocs when I couldnt draw.

apparently you can have 5 now and when you're premium you can have 6

battles... I barely do the battledome

I’m gonna take a stab and say the economy is worse now since there is a lot of pay to play content? I know it was abysmal when I was a kid, getting a brush was impossible unless you cheated, at least for me.
