I got an email that they were gonna delete mine, tried to log in and save it, and couldn't get in. The staff basically told me "tough luck, bub!" and I haven't really made a succcessful account since. The community part of the game is kinda dead now. umu

If I remember correctly, they delete the account after two years of no activity?

Yeah, it was definitely more than two. They give you a lot of wiggle room, but they would not help me log back in because my old email was dead.

I played a lot of neopets back in the day but I didnt like how informal the community was, so I went and joined Subeta and I played a lot of that. Edgy neopets XD

Other than that I think I played Aywas, wajas, mmmmarapets?, and most recently flight rising which i do check up on from time to time

Honestly I do miss the virtual pet craze o3o;; I found the sites really fun. Maybe they'll make a comeback someday...

My most recent account is 12.5 years old! (I feel old now! lol)

I remember I was soo excited when I got a Draik! I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time playing!

Okay, so I did a deep dive down memory lane and I found my very first account which is 16.5 years old!

Apparently my neopets won't load though

I used to be a huge Neopets fan! I had one account with an Ixi, Bori and Wocky. Later in the 6th grade I had an account with a Lupe and a Hissi (which I had gotten up early before school on Hissi Day to create) but the Neopets website facetiously told me my account had gotten a warning and not knowing it was a practical joke I quit the site in shame.

In high school I joined another site called Subeta. I had a ton of pets on this site and I imagined lots of stories about them. One thing Subeta had over Neopets was that it was much easier to get painted pets here - it didn't require an astronomical amount of money. So I had a very colorful assortment of pets.

So what happened to this account? Well one February the site had put together an event that gave your account's avatar a love zombie disease. I was so scared of contracting the disease that I abandoned the account.

... you see... I took these virtual worlds very seriously, and got way too worked up about fictional events in them XO

I will say that the comics in the Neopian Times were some of the first webcomics I ever read! I used to make little webcomics in MSPaint about my Neopets and dreamed of submitting them to the comics section of the Times, but I knew my art wasn't up to snuff so I never did.

The times was where I read my first webcomics too! Also my first fanfiction i ever read was a neopets fanfic about a group of shoyru who had to fight an evil wizard shoyru to the death! I was super influenced by those stories.

I'm old enough to remember tanamagotchis which I guess are sort of the grandfather to the virtual pet genre.

Little bastards kept dying on me and making kid-me cry.

They used to make me so stressed out! I didnt really get into them until they made the ones you could connect, cause I was old enough to understand how to play lol.

Oh gosh now I remember that!!! No wonder my taste for dark creepy stuff masked behind saccharine cuteness. Neopets has so much weird creepy backstory in it!
