Does anyone else MISS going to the movies?

However, I don't think that I would go to the cinema less, because I rarely go anyway.
It is expensive, plus I only watch in cinema a movie what I'm really interested in. It makes it a special experience.

Sound mixing in most media has been pretty garbage over the past 30 years, but movies have been focused on the kabooms over the talking for so long they're basically the audio equivalent of jump scares

Yeah... though now, getting snacks and the movie at home costs the same and you don't get the same experience.

Oh yeah, I do miss it from time to time, I don't even know what's out anymore. With two jobs it's hard to find the time, and nowadays I've heard it's gotten pretty expensive, which... I can hardly afford necessities so luxury stuff like the movies is out of the question. But yeah, it was so fun to get snacks and get your brain blasted out by massive theater speakers, the last film I ever saw on the big screen was Life of Pi.

I´m a supporter of movie theaters and I think it´s good to buy snacks there
but at home snacks really cost a fraction of what they cost at the cinema.
At least in germany. A family easily spends 80 to 100 bucks, tickets and snacks and
I think that´s one main reason why people don´t go to the movies anymore

Not always since it is a bit expensive to travel then get the tickets and some popcorn. Besides I prefer going to the spa or to the Capital to eat at my favorite japanese restaurant

But like, even if there are some movies that are trapped in streaming platforms, there are several ones available on cinemas.
Not so long ago was the Anime Cycle at any shopping that worked with Hoyts. If I had the time I would have gone to watch both Gurren Lagan's and One Piece Film Red's movies again. After all I loved them.

My hubby and I are planning to watch Deadpool 3 on the Cinema, we know one that is not so far away but its like, the whole showcase feels like the Backrooms. And its way less expensive than going to a shopping with Hoyts Cinema, which you'll have to go a Wednesday for the 2x1 if you don't want to spend a lot of money, still, the greatest thing about Argentina cinemas is that you could go inside with literally a backpack full of food and no one could care less lmao.

I like going from time to time, I tend to go mostly on Halloween when the cinemas do a showing of older horror movies, like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street, or if the movies they are showing are part of a franchise I like.

I still go to the cinema once in a while if there is a nice movie :3 It’s rare to see much movies in the cinema these days tho, I feel like there used to be more diversity in genres before, now it’s mostly action-ish movies?

in my country it is now dangerous to go to cinemas, so I forgot what it is and watch movies only on my laptop.

I'm also in my OP's age range, but I recently took a child to see a movie, and I'll tell you it was a lot more fun watching him watch the movie. He was excited about the big screen, the seats, the popcorn... how it got so dark, what other people were doing... he also laughed with others at the same time, showing me that he was way more engaged in the movie (than compared to say when he watches something on streaming). I might have been living vicarously through him for those 140 minutes or so. But it was great to talk about the movie with him afterward. ^^

Sadly that's due to streaming services dominating over the cinema industry. They decide what gets made and what not so now you see tons of high budget movies with terrible ratings and you don't get to see much decent movies with small budgets in the theater cause the Cinema industry don't want to show "low quality" movies.
