Because I'm a short story kinda 'gal (my stories seem to naturally want to fit into about 50 pages, it's weird) I've got multiple projects under my belt to compare and its really interesting. I'll talk about them in chronological order, so you might expect the number of subs to go up as I gather more followers. (Spoiler: that's not exactly what's happened!)
The Art of Monsters - Black and white fantasy comic, 50 pages. 62 subs

This was my first comic so the art is a little wonky, and also it's not in colour. It does have a weird looking monstery lead character though!
https://tapastic.com/series/Breaking-the-LoreBreaking the Lore - Full colour fantasy comic, 50 pages, 93 subs -

We're into full colour, I carried over some subscribers from my old comic, so as you might expect numbers went up a teeny tiny bit. But not much.
Marginalia - Full colour, slice of life/autobiographical, 416 subs. FOUR. PAGES.

So... yeah, I write all these crazy fantasy stories and put months of planning and effort into them and then a quick comic I did as a filler in between "big" projects ended up being the sub-magnet, comparatively. You have no idea how tempting it was to switch to just this comic and dump all my other plans!!! But I had a story I wanted to tell so I went ahead with...
The Trapper Lad - Full colour, drama/historical, ongoing. Currently 14 pages. 69 subs.

So those extra subs didn't follow me to my next project - fair enough, it's a very different comic.
When I've finished the Trapper Lad I'm probably going to return to Marginalia. But I'm conflicted about writing a comic about my own life, and I think my happiness at getting more readers will always be tinged with a little sadness that my personal favourite projects weren't so popular.
