Does it makes sense to mix Horror and Heartwarming genre?

This is basically for Webtoons question, lolz. I was just thinking about it if it's alright.
Me comic will be heavily based on a family which they will deal a lot of bad stuffs that will happen around them. And of course, is a mix with cute scenes of the family. I don't think Drama fits for me.. Not sure though. Maybe I see a lot of drama comics to be like in narrative story..? While this comic I have will be sorta random, each episode/page will be different.

Sorry for this lazy ref of the family. I will pretty much use this as the height guide, lmao. Will draw them in a better pose soon.

It'd definitely be refreshing to see a mix like that! I get this idea that people think certain genres can't work together, mostly anything serious with anything heartwarming or kid-friendly. Like you can't have them mesh well enough to work.. So.. yeah, I'd say it's alright!

Love the designs too, by the way, I'd love to get a chance to read it whenever it's ready to be posted!

I think that it does make sense, is cool, shows diversity in writing skills, and is a representation of real life.

Horror is arguably the most versatile of all genres. You can mix it with virtually anything.

Yeah, some of the more enjoyable horror stuff I've watched/read (basically where the characters aren't just unlikable idiots) usually have a few heartwarming scenes between characters (and the characters are likable). Usually it's to add another a punch to viewers when one or more of the characters dies/gets possessed.

I think the two would be perfect together. You can give the readers a false sense of security and then BOOM horror!
Also it's easier to care about characters in a horror when they are sympathetic.

Mixing genre's is the best to be honest!
There is a manga that kinda does this and you wouldn't expect it at all.
Dororhedoro while I wouldn't call it horror it's more of a thriller with a lot of blood, violence and gore and first impressions of it because of the art and the type of story it is you'd expect it to be just about violence but it's actually reaaaally heartwarming and cute bacause the character relationships are so well written and genuine. The heartwarming scenes aren't just there to make the reader feel for the characters and then they'd kill the characters in the next scene like a lot of other manga do,they're there because that's how the characters naturally interact with eachother and that's why they're heartwarming.

Oh, it definitely makes sense to have heart-warming scenes with horror. I have that a lot in my horror stories.

Because often enough, it gives those characters more depth. We see how they are when they're not afraid, how they are when they're with the people they love most in the world. It brings more to the table than "the poor sap who got stuck into this mess"

Even more, it brings characters the determination to fight back. They have something, someone, to protect from the horrors, and dangit, they're gonna try their best to make sure it happens.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of horror films with moments that made me go "AWWWW". Happens in games all the time, too.
