Does the little M next to the Mature section look like a notification to you too?

It's driving me crazy! Every time I'm on the main Tapas website, I spot the Mature section link in the top banner and immediately go to click on it because I've mistaken the little red M badge next to it as a notification badge.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

It absolutely looks that way in my browser. I also wish they'd rethink that... it's distracting. In the Android and iOS apps it's way more hidden (or maybe not there? educate me?), probably because the app stores don't allow that content.

We may be dealing with the fact that people who use the browser are going straight to that M, lol.

Well, I've never gone and clicked on it but I do look there first every time I open the browser now

It does! It's probably cause it just POPS and looks like a common alert with the White on Red. Maybe they should change it a little bit? Like Red on White bg instead?

But yeah... it’s got that same red that the notifications get. Plays a mind trick!

I'm glad I'm not the only person feeling distracted by that little icon! Without fail, I always seem to mistake it for an alert... and then I feel a little silly because it's not even on the right side of the screen.

Not surprised, since EVERY social media platform uses red as a notification indicator. We've been conditioned to read it that way.

I'm so sorry guys, I'm still new to the land of Forums and Tapas so I hadn't realised I wouldn't receive an email when replies came through! I've pinned a tab open now to get me to check more often

So glad to hear I'm not the only one! I hadn't realised the Mature section was a new thing so that would make sense if it were a temporary thing to catch our attention deliberately, @Maps. I've been on Tapas for years but have only recently become more involved now that I'm ready to share my own comic, hence I didn't realise. I know, that sounds horrible, but I'm trying to make up for it by following other new artists

I'm not sure if we really need to have the Mature section pushed upon us using this, what we in the design world would call an anti-pattern, but I appreciate they want to show it off somehow whilst it's new.

Btw, not on the subject but in regard to the email thing: I think you can toggle that on in your preference settings in your profile and choose how often you want to get an email (each time, once a day - something like that)

Done, I've gone for maximum emails! I may regret it in time but for these early days it'll give me that kick up the backside to get over here more often!
