Rue

Nose-deep in paper stacks tapas.io/series/Ivory-Weald

I'm Rue and I write my comic, Ivory Weald. (http://www.ivoryweald.net) I'm a traditional artist with a focus on markers and watercolors who loves fantasy and romances (preferably, when they're put together!). I love meeting new people and seeing what wonderful stories they can come up with, so I'm always open to checking out new things!

Oh, I wish you the best of luck with your art journey and figuring out what you want to do with yourself! It's definitely no easy task, but I send you my well wishes that everything will fall into place for you however you decide you want to move forward.

Hello hello, here I am with some praise for you! :hearts: The background work is phenomenal! You put so much effort and love into each and every one of your environments, and it shows -- they greatly serve to enhance the narrative and add an immersive richness to your comic. I really like your character …

Hey there!! It's nice to see you again, too! [:hype_01:] I've been doing as well as I could -- struggled with a lot of IRL issues and thus fell off the face of the earth for a little while, and in the meantime did a lot of soul searching in an attempt to find a digital style that works for me that I…

Hello there everybody, both faces old and brand new to me! [:tapa_pop:] It's been quite a long time since I've been around, but I've been itching to get myself back into a comic mindset, so here I am -- and I thought, what better way than to praise some comics again, just like old times? Thanksgiv…

I've been participating in artfight for the past 3 years now, looking forward to my 4th. [:hype_01:] I signed up for Spice! A lot of my mutuals went for Sugar, so it's the perfect opportunity for me to draw some mutuals' ocs~. https://artfight.net/~teasidesketches I've been practicing some digi…

Sorry for the dip in activity! I read through a couple more, so here are some more reviews! Bardsong by @rajillustration: Color is something that I am always drawn to, and I love your use of color throughout the pages. Everything is so harmonious to me, and yet, you don't need to rely on dull c…

I'm in the same boat as DualDragons; my computer refuses to acknowledge my (admittedly, very ridiculous) surname and foreign first name, so I just... forced it to remember. That'll teach you, word processor! Of course, on the same note, I also need to save a bunch of character and location names s…

Next up is Mirror Monster by @rosiegh0st: I believe I mentioned this last time, but your characters continue to be very expressive and bring your pages to life. Personally, I find strong expressions rather difficult to pull off, so you're doing great! You've been doing a great job of using your…

OK, time for another review! Space Pirate by @thecrystalrook: I really appreciate the effort you're putting into all your action scenes; you can really tell how much work is going into it, so keep working hard on that!! If you want to elevate your action scenes a bit more, I'd suggest to play…

OK, I'm going to start this thread off proper with Djinns by @rumpenstiltzkin ! Here we go: First off, I think your colors are beautiful and the way you illustrate magic is so vibrant. I absolutely love it! Your character design is very strong, and all the characters are very easily distinguish…

@rosiegh0st I remember reading through yours before in a previous thread! I certainly don't mind looking through the new pages. I'll just have to check back on my old comments to make sure I don't repeat myself on anything (and, based on my comments from last time, I can find more things to praise …

Hey guys! It's been a long time since I did one of these, but I've been feeling really discouraged and the world is such a mess right now that I figured it might be nice for both me and other people to hand out some likes, comments, and positive reviews. [:smile_01:] Before you post, though: I…

I'm a simple woman with simple preferences, I'd like to think. I'm going to leave out anything skill-related and just focus on specific types of content I adore. [:heart_02:] :cherry_blossom: Fantasy/fantastical elements. What's that? You have a modern story... but with magic?! Sign me up. Stereotypical Western m…

This probably isn't everything that I find off-putting and I don't think it's anything too deep or unusual, but they're the ones I can think up off the top of my head: Robotic and/or completely unnatural dialogue. This is one of the biggest ones for me--the reading portion of the comic is very im…

The interesting/fun thing about this challenge is getting suggestions for characters you might otherwise never draw! I just finished mine and I'm pretty happy with how it came out since I'm using it as practice. [image]

My Discord is Tea#8744, if you or anyone wants to talk shop and share comic or art related things.

Awkwardly slides this in... [image] Not sure if anyone can ready my terrible handwriting, so I can clarify if anyone wants me to. []

-grabby hands and eye emojis-

@rmdooley @Zak Can I just say, you two frighten me. In a good way... but still, very intimidated. As for me, I had several weeks of buffer at one point, but after that a lot of life happened and I have none. I like to try to keep at least a few weeks ahead if possible, though, just in case thing…

I'd like to suggest giving some ink to @rmdooley's comic, Legio Arcana! I love the writing and the twists and turns of the plot; the black and white style is enjoyable and different from all the colored comics you see on Tapas, and the aesthetic serves the comic so well. This is one of those stories…

[image] *Edit because I forgot to make it transparent, oops I've been a bit under the weather so I don't know how many more of these I can do, but here's one more! I hope you like it! [:cry_01:]

Edit: I've run out of ink, and I'll feel bad if people keep donating and I can't reciprocate, so I'm going to pull my little plug from here!

One more! I really liked the angular hair, so I tried to retain some of that in my painting. I hope you like it!! [image]

My tip jar is always open. But on a more serious note! As a warm-up for today, here's your boy! I hope you like it!! [image]

[image] Aaaand I'm going to call this done! Thank you for letting me draw her, I hope you like it!! @Kaylim Ahhh thank you! [:cry_02:] I'm going to do my best to improve and get to a point where I'm as happy with my digital as I can be!

I was so enamored with her that I dropped everything to start drawing her right away [:heart_01:] I still need to do all the rendering and refining, but I thought I would share what I've got so far! [image]

Edit: I can't just pick 6, sooo I'm going to do as many as I feel like doing as inspiration (and procrastination) strike me! If you haven't posted a character yet, feel free to do so for a chance to have them drawn. We're stuck at home, I'm trying to get more comfortable with digital art, and I w…

I'm really only active on Twitter outside Tapas, so that's the only social media I'll post. :') https://twitter.com/teasidesketches

As much as I'd like to, I probably should pass. I've got a lot going on in the first half of this year, so I'm not sure if I can devote enough time to this. ^^; Good luck with it, though! I'm sure it's going to be great!

It's not too late, no! The deadline for January's feature is Jan. 24th, but you can also still submit for Feburary's by Feb. 21st.
