Don’t draw chiclet teeth?

Well? Does anyone else get incredible satisfaction from doing this?

Drawing all the teeth individually? I know it’s a big no-no for some, but I really love doing it. It’s so fun to draw teeth, and I feel like it looks more raw and expressive.

So who out there draws individual teeth and why? And if you’re more of a teeth-strip person, why that? And if you forgo teeth altogether, why? Let’s start some chiclet teeth discourse!

I tend to draw some of the teeth more detailed/expressive when I am making a character look angry or scary. It just adds to the impression.

I can't detail the teeth constantly tho because it would look very out of place with my style. I think it can work with some styles. You do you

I only do that when it's a very big picture, otherwise it looks more like braces than teeth, haha xD

I've recently developed a very real appreciation for the way different artists render teeth, and have been trying to find a more expressive way to do that would suit my style. I'm not quite there yet, but I find I like vague outlines/suggestions of individual teeth best so far.

Very much as LordVincent said, I'll only draw individual teeth if it's a close-up on the mouth meant to emphasize an emotion.

Other than that, for humans I'll just do the strip as it goes better with my styles.

like feardeer, I have kinda a mix between the chiclet vs strip? I like to imply when teeth aren't perfect, but I don't draw each individual one

So characters with more aligned teeth are more likely to be represented by a single shape than characters with a more varied bite!

i feel they work really well either for horror OR comedic exaggeration.
i'm more of a teeth-strip person myself, but only for stylistic purposes (except for one character where i want his teeth to be more prominently featured than the others.... now that i think about it, he is kind of a comedic relief in an oppressive setting haha)

chiclet teeth is something i'll definitely do if i ever get to the creepy bits of my story haha.

I only really do individual teeth in certain characters and in extreme close ups. I find otherwise it's a lot of little converging lines that take focus away from other parts of the composition that might be more important. Also, for some reason it communicates obnoxiousness and bad dental hygiene to me and I don't know why, so if a character is quiet and fastidious they only get a little strip poking through rarely. But I also usually give those types of characters small mouths.
