If I am allowed to theorize, I believe it's more an attempt to create an algorithm that gives visibility to more people while maintaining a high turn ratio of viewers-to-subscribers. The tapas peeps have good intentions and are passionate about creative freedom and diversity last time I checked, the only thing I can imagine them wanting to weed out is hateful and/or illegal content.

Somewhere along the line, this attempt failed

So it's you who has been stealing my subs!
Get him, boys!

Yakety sax plays and a comedic chase ensues

This is a screen shot of my view stats from the day before the change and after the update. Also, my comic didn't appear in the 'fresh' category on Monday when it updated. Will have to see if it appears tomorrow morning.

Subs have remained sort of normal as I normally get 1-2 per update.

For my two series that have updated before and after the site revamp. Both have an uptick in views after the revamp. Heavy Horns also had a few more subscribers. Still, it's TOO EARLY to tell how the revamp is affecting comics, but I'm posting for fun so lurkers won't get anxiety and think the sky's falling down.

Sarota Springs (updates on Mar 3 and 10)

Heavy Horns (updates on Mar 1 and 8)

I agree with the point that it's too early to see if the redesign is having such a massive impact.
Personally I have seen a drop-off of subscriptions, views, likes, kinda everything.
But I don't blame the redesign (yet). It's more likely due to me having pushed back a lot of the newest pages, full-time student and all.
So I blame life.

It`s because your comics are display correctly in "popular", "trending chart" etc. Some of us were not so lucky.

Not sure about popular, my comics haven't hit that in a looong while. I mean, unless you saw it with your own eyes. Cuz I sure didn't. I even checked on Heavy Horn's update day. And I don't think I had a concentrated enough spate of attention/engagement for trending, especially Sarota Springs which is a more niche comic that's never seen popular.

I'm glad that at least some people are not being adversely affected, but personally, I'm so sick of this never ending shit-fight.
First, Tapas pulled me out of the app with no notice, then Webtoons launched Canvas and my views drop by half, and now Tapas does this shit and I get fucked over... Again.

If it's not one thing, it's another.
I feel like a fucking punching bag.

I just can't win.

I wonder if it's just the universe telling me to give up?

Honestly I'm thinking of leaving the comic game.
Aside from maybe the occasional passion project or commissioned project where I get paid upfront, I'm beginning to focus on novels as my creative outlet. If I'm not going to make a living, I can at least try and tell as many stories as I can before I die, and comics are just too slow a medium for that.

I'm a small creator and my stats have actually gone up a bit ^^ Still, could be coincidence.

I'm pretty shit at making comics but I'm even worse at everything else, so it's comics or nothing for me.

I'm considering leaving Tapas and Webtoons and keep the comic going in a scaled down format on Pixiv and my Patreon only.

At least I know that a sizeable portion of my Patreon supports this idea.

I see Sarota Springs in popular right now ^^

It is "Horror" top, but you are visible in "all genres" too. Congratulations btw!

Unfortunately, some comics (mostly nsfw, but not only) don't show in many categories after update. It looks like some weird restrictions.

Hm, I don't see it under All > Popular. But I guess showing up in horror is fine (and at the very bottom of trending currently).

To tell the truth, I never look at what shows up in individual genres. I have an unhealthy mindset that it's all or nothing. So I try not to get wrapped up in the numbers and ignore the home page entirely.
