Dumb names that you're stuck with

So, this is more so for creators who have been doing their series for a long time. Have you ever regretted the name you gave your series? Or does it outright make you cringe, but it's been called that dumb name for years now and you simply just can't see it having another name? Share here! Also low-key advertise your crap with the knowledge that people who peruse this thread won't judge the inside of it based on that lame name.

Mine is Not so Emo

So you know. It's not like having the word Emo in the name is bad enough and totally didn't go out of fashion in like 2007, but it's not even accurate because the comic is a drama so there's plenty of emotional shit happening. I try to shift the shame by calling it NSE but the name haunts me in my dreams.

Maybe not any of my comic titles specifically, but some of the character names, yeah. Like the Fairy Tree Man and the Slasher. Whoof. The only defense I have for those is that these are demons that once had ferocious names but after thousands of years of them becoming myths and scary stories told by children at campfires, the names got dumbed down a bit

There are also names that make me just want to go "ugh why" though. But if I changed them now it just wouldn't feel right :/

I do kind of regret going with the weeb cliche of giving my comic a Japanese name tbh. I mean, at least it fits with the comic, given that the protagonist is actually from Japan and all that... but that said, I wish my naive young self had given said protagonist an actual Japanese name instead of just making something up. >_> There is no kanji for "Minosei" grr argh

And don't even get me started on "The Legendary Female." M...Mystis is bad at naming things, that's the ticket...

Not for my comic, but I can't seem to escape my online handle. I've been KurapikaSuki forever and I can't seem to get away from it. I've been trying to go more with Kura or K. L. Seunnapha, but it keeps jumping back to that.

I make weird choices when it comes to character names and I'm fine with them, though some might find them a bit silly. However one thing I didn't think through was the fact that two characters are introduced with their nicknames/fake names and their real name will be revealed later, so of course people will come to know them by their nicknames rather than real names. That one kinda bums me because I really like their real names, but ehh, it had to be done.

oh my gosh i have the same situation happening in my comic too <'D the main guy has a cover name and it's only later that the protag gives him the nickname he mainly goes by in the story. i'd thought he would get nicknamed sooner but it ended up happening later. so ofc i have some folks calling him the cover name and the other half calling him by nickname. all i can do is keep calling him by what i prefer and wait for it to catch on!

my naming sense is a bit weird/stupid sometimes but i've managed to keep the super stupid out for now :'D

So, sometimes when I'm working on a project I will give it a joke working title that is intentionally silly or a reference to something, with the intention of changing it later (e.g. a chapter of the novel I'm working on was once titled "In which Benji blows up Aunt Marge"). Waste Of Time was one such title, but I was too impatient to wait until I could think of a better title and just started uploading pages.

These days I've learned to love to hate it. It's not the worst title I could have picked, but it's not my favourite. It's super un-googleable as well.

(And yes, renaming characters is so difficult, I had to do it for another project and I kept calling the main character by his old name, it was awful.)

Years ago, I thought it would be funny to have a red-haired character with the last name Ardilla (Spanish for "squirrel"). Now I'm writing a story which features her parents, also by the last name, and I have a bunch of redheads (and not) with the name squirrel... they have nothing to do with the Spanish language...

hmm... There was a War is a bit of a clunky name, and maybe a bit boring. the acronym is taken up by some show abt weddings, which sucks. but it keeps my intention clear, i guess, since war and hearsay are important to the story. i cant think of anything better, but sometimes i regret the title a little.

i cant really regret any of my character names bc theyre all pulled straight from the myth. snot like i can change em.

My main character is called Osram (yeah, like the company that produces lightbulbs xD )
First she was a side character of another story and I didn't really think of her name. It just sounded nice. When I started her story...I realiced.

Now everytime I have to change the neon lamp on the company I work for, it cringes back to me xD

Ah that's my favourite. It reminds me of the idea I had to make a dating sim but give all the characters japanese sounding finnish non-names (like Muro Puro = Cereal Stream) and then sit back and laugh :3

not so much a series names specifically, but the username I usually use for my art: Scarlet-wings-kaili. I made it way back in high school, and it had to do different identities I had a the time. Unfortunately, I don't think it sounds very good so I usually shorten it to SWK now.

In my comic, Halfsoul there is a set of siblings (though 2 of them haven't showed up yet) called Tale, Climax, and Resolution (Rezie for short) because I'm a sucker for puns.

I usually refer to it as "Robot Zombie".

I also wish I used "Zombor" real name. I don't remember why I changed it. His real name is "Zombra".

heh...the title of my comic, which I came up with as a 15yr old, has "The" in it three times...having "The" just once is bad enough and usually to be avoided at all costs according to the internets :-= I really can't see it being called anything else, though, as derpy as the name is..

Oh man, I named my project "The Flipside" (which makes sense for the story) back in 2015. The reason I'm not the biggest fan of that name now is because now when I exit a Skype call, there have been a couple of times where a friend has said "Goodbye, catch you on the flip side" followed by evil cackling. :^(

I've never liked the title "Light and Dark" for my comic but now I'm stuck with it. I cringe when it's said out loud.
I just call it LnD to feel better about it.
