Dumbest/craziest unasked for advice you've gotten

I feel this. My dad keeps sending job applications for the Smithsonian which require a History background or 6 years working in a museum. I keep telling them I can't apply and they act like if I do I will magically get the job. DC has a super competitive job market, so not having the right "suggested" requirements, you are unsuitable.

I was told by a girl in high-school that, if someone lashes out at me, even if I didn't deserve it, I should still apologise to them for whatever set them off. This came from a woman who would give you a verbal beat-down for knocking shoulders with her in passing so... No. I won't apologise to someone looking for a fight. I'll do the smart thing and walk away from that nonsense.

I hate that so damn much. Even extends to physical illnesses, "So I notice you're in a wheelchair. Have you tried GOD?" (not their actual words but what it can basically be summed up to) I can't seem to go anywhere in my chair without someone handing me a panflit for some church (or sneaking it on my chair or in my bag at the back of my chair. I mean, fuck my personal boundires and respect of propery apparently.)

Also get a lot on the more agressive version of this which is "The reason you're sick is because you don't go to church and god is punishing you."

Probably how my entire life it was ingrained into me to go to college to get a good job so I'd get paid well and live comfortably. Turns out I need to get paid well to pay off my college while living pay-check to pay-check. This is what I get for not being "STEM" smart.

The fact that they would even have the gall to tell people who suffer physically that the reason they are suffering is because they "don't follow god" and even invade boundaries is so, so DISGUSTING. I tried the whole worshiping God thing back in my teen years and all it did was make me even more of an angry bipolar.

These people need to learn when to back off and mind their own business.

Gotta say those things help with depression, but they need to be complemented with a proper treatment and medication. (to have the energy to do these things in the first place)

and just...be 'happy'
