I hear lot's of questions on how to write better, how to be consistent, how to have good pacing and lot's of the answers boil down to perseverance, dedication, willpower, discipline.
Don't get me wrong, these are crucial for authors, really any professional/dedicated hobbyist in any field to be honest.
But, at least in my experience, an editor has proved indispensable!
But won't an editor ruin ruin my vision?
A good editor will never try to change your overall story, only the way it is presented and how your characters develop. aka: they will make your story the best it can be.
But I know I can do it myself!
The fact is, unless you're an incredibly talented and experienced artiste, it is really difficult to burden the creation of an entire story all on yourself.
One pair of eyes, especially one clouded by emotional attachment cannot see the same mistakes, inconsistencies and problems as something like, a critic or an editor.
It will also save you a lot of time, since you won't have to be constantly thinking about and shouldering all the problems yourself, allowing you to focus on simply writing out the story draft.
Instead of telling you all this myself, I'll let my editor illustrate it himself, with this Youtube Video. (there is some swearing in the video)
And if your still not convinced, think about it this way: If editing wasn't important, why would almost all Tapas' premium series and almost all professional books, comics and scripts on the market now have an editor attached to the production?
I hope this helps you on your creative project!
