Hi, everyone. I'm fairly new here to Tapastic, and have recently uploaded the full library of my comic, Transyltown2. I did so by uploading several pages categorized into "episodes" (splitting episodes into parts if they were very long), but looking around at other comics here I've notice that the majority of creators I've looked at upload single pages as "episodes". I'm wondering what is the best format to use for updating with new pages?

Welcome to the forums ^_^

I think so yes. I've found that readers tend to get burnt out more easily if there's a lot of content in one episode. So limiting maybe 3-4 pages inside of an episode has worked well.

Also uploading 1 page per episode allows readers to be able to like/comment/share each page or helps bookmark their spot if they click off. The next time they visit the series, the site loads the last episode the reader was one.

The short answer is 'whatever you want an episode to be' - though Cyndi brings up good points about superlong episodes which i agree with.

A Legend (of some sort)1 was designed where each page has a gag/joke/event that makes it semi-self-contained, even if there is an ongoing story arc, similar to comics like The Order of the Stick, Dumbing of Age, Menage a 3, etc. So I post one page at a time - with the vertical scroll format, they can seem like some pages are longer than others, but they all end up on Standard Comic Pages when read in the (hopefully eventual) print format.

Do whatever feels right to you!

If you've got a bunch of pages because you used to post your comic elsewhere for example, I recon it's better to go for small episodes, between 3 and 8 pages, going through a whole scene or set of events/dialogue.

I think the reason most people post page par page is that we don't have that big a buffer anymore. We draw our webcomic and do our best to post a page regularly (once, twice a week or a month, or once a day depending of what people are able to do) - so it's most of the time not possible to post episodes of several pages at a time, beacause there would just be too much time passing between two episodes.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! That gives me a good perspective on things. I think I may go for separating things into short scenes from now on.
