I had stalkers when I was a younger musician, nothing super creepy.
Some of them told me years later. That´s nothing special when you
are a musician, I think most musicians who perform regularly have
stalkers. It´s not always out of love interest.
I´m turning 48 this year and don´t have stalkers anymore

i think the worst experience i had was an individual i'd blocked on one platform seeking me out on every other site i'm on to ask about why as well as sending friends to interrogate as well which on one hand i feel like i can't complain since they're publicly available sites (it's like all the stuff i post or promo on) but at the same time it was such a crossing of boundaries so even tho time has passed i'm still just really bugged by it

if anything i think it's why i feel like i became a little colder or less open coz i didn't want people being overly comfortable or immediately assuming friendship out of formal interactions but even then you can only translate tone through text but so much

I feel like it has happened... but it's rarely a big deal. Sometimes on webtoon I'd get people finding Errant and going "OMG, this is Fan Dan Go!" and I'm like "...wait, what? people remember that!?"

It happens more with my voice. My old art tutorial videos and let's plays frequently have comments where people are weirded out by how familiar my voice sounds, and then go "KANAYA!?" because they've watched Let's Read Homestuck and they just made the connection hearing that voice out of context.
It's my dream to someday be doing something serious like buying a house or doing tax or business and to make somebody who was a Homestuck in their teens feel weirdly unsettled, but they can't place why.

Every once in a while when I introduce myself someone will ask me if I draw and will make that connection. I’ve also had it happen where people will beat around the bush and ask “what’s your instagram?” and then get really excited that their suspicions were right and that I’m the person they follow. Also at conventions but its more fun when it happens outside of a work setting.

But on a local level I get stopped once a day and get asked if I’m “the comedian”. I do a lotta shows in town and they’re pretty well attended and I’m usually the only girl in the lineup and that allows me to be kinda memorable.

Godamn, no I have not been recognized yet, but this makes me really paranoid. I don't post on social media and only have accounts there just because. My discord is pretty active, but I don't think I have leaked anything about my IRL identity.

But if you are feeling paranoid about your online presence, check up on your internet safety. It doesn't stop anything in that has already happened, but may help prevent stuff in the future.

• Check all the (privacy) setting on your online accounts. These silly website and social media, etc. can change the default/your settings at anytime which can expose private information you did NOT want. It may also provide better privacy & blocking features too, but you have to check. Do this regularly.

• If there are any online accounts you made but never use, remove as much personal information as possible, and delete account. Less likely for leaks and easier to manage less online accounts, so hopefully less stress too.

• Never share personal info, especially anything that can linked to your identity.

You might already know all this, but we all can always use a reminder for how to be safe.

I get recognized more because I do pro-wrestling as a hobby than as a writer. Last x-mas I had a bizarre encounter with a fan who was moonlighting part time as a cheap-costume Santa in a store near my house. He was in the know enough to know my knee was busted from a show in November.

I did get recognized a couple of times for my video game writing work, as I have participated in a couple of events as an orator.

Can politely tell them you're busy at 1st and if they continues to be persistent you always have the option to ignore them

Haven't got anything wierd on Tapas yet thankfully but the creepiest have to be those on Deviant art, I just ignore them.
Most of the weird ones there are for my oc Adam, had some sexy pics of him there and others of him in combat -but once in a while I'd get disturbing pms from people a little too obsessed with him and they demand things like having his limbs chopped off. The creepiest was someone obsessed with a flash back image of Adam as a kid, it was disturbing so I ignored and deleted.

Outside Art community RL had mostly positive experiences of people recognizing me
Years back I was interested in recording arts made a song sang at a few gigs, karaoke and cosplayed once for a con as Aladdin. So became norm for strangers coming up and recognizing me from one of those.
Only had eek situation was one girl who recognized me from the Aladdin cosplay. It was at my cousin wedding, I had to stay at door to help guests to sign the picture. This was a year after I cosplayed, and there was an anime con next-door to where the wedding took place. One girl remembered me from the cosplay came over, we had a casual conversation about anime and art. Was prob my mistake exchanging Insta contacts. After that she constantly sent sexual messages, I told her I'm not comfortable nor interested in her that way, she continued until I just stopped responding, Wasn't expecting this from her and glad she eventually stopped.

Yea just seems Ignoring is the best method, they'd eventually stop, even if they dead set

A friend told me someone he knew was talking about it and uh, I submitted to a magazine at one point that got a lot of people I didn't know coming to me to discuss it which was pretty cool. Beyond that I think not really. But I always wonder what people are saying I guess.

Ironically enough, the internet is where I don't really get recognized at. Whenever I do conventions, interact in real life, people are often more eager to talk to me and praise my work compared to online spaces. In real life, a lot of people know who I am as a person, say so many compliments and praises. Online it's just crickets. I get kind of demotivated due to it because it's my actual confusion surfacing between the two spaces.

I kind of have been recognized from time to time but it was part of my "usual" community to some extent.

• I've been recognized at Anime Conventions, either because I had a art/commercial stand, other times because I've participated in the Art Contests and while not frequent I've been recognized not for drawing but for have won a few Karaoke contests.

• I've been recognized at high school too by the younger students from the same Specialization (Visual Arts) during my last year, some recognized a few patterns from my anime illustrations to my non-anime works at the Week of Arts where the last year decorates the entire school with interventions, installations and paintings. I recall Boss Barenghi (The Art Teacher that was basically in charge of all classrooms and study plan) calling me and there were three kiddos holding the fanzines I've made back in 2015 lol

• The last time I've been recognized was during a Tokusatsu Gathering, I separated from the group to order something to eat (It was a big Shopping Mall) and a girl came by and asked me if I was Red Lenai, which I said yes. It seems she recognized mostly from my Momotaros's jacket since for a period of time I drew myself with it.
