Ever pick an actor for a character you're writing?

Oh yes, two of my novel characters were heavily inspired by real actors. And if I had a time machine to pick them up during times where they better match my characters' ages for them to play I'd use it for sure.

I pretty quickly came up with Valon's character after I examined some of Stephen Lang's roles.

As for Schuler, I had a hard time nailing down his character until I saw Sam Elliott in Road House.

And a bit later on, after rewatching Death Note, I realized that the English VA for Ryuk, Brian Drummond, would be perfect for Anax.

There's a difference between a character's speaking pattern and diction... trust me on that one!

I only knew Colleen Clinkenbeard from her role in FMAB and I could imagine her voice for your character.

For Rocky the rock i thought on jokingly crediting Chuck Norris, Morgan Freeman or Dwayne The Rock Johnson as his voice actor.....

not consciously, but people have pointed this out to me before. I do not remember seeing Streets of San Francisco, but my grandparents liked oldies so I could have caught a glimpse when I was like five. Who knows what will creep out from your childhood! Of course I watched it when it was pointed out. Highly recommend. Great old show. Views of 1970's San Fran are superb.

Yessss, haha, I love to think about this sort of stuff, so I've got a few!

Okay, the first one is easy. Jorn's appearance was loosely based on Deathstars' Eric Backman/Cat Casino, and while the man is mostly known as a musician, I saw that he had a role in a movie as well, so there's very little doubt here :'D

Then we'd have Christine Adams as Aaliyah Jenkins:

...And Caleb Laundry Jones as Tyler:

And then there'd be Watchmen-era Jackie Earle Haley, who'd be perfect to play one of my bad guys.

Other characters mostly have "voice claims", like Adrian Hates for Adrian (the fact that I picked a dude with the same name for his voice may or may not be a coincidence) and -sadly deceased ;_; - Steve Lee for Aaron (both are singers, so you get a link to a song in this case :D).

I write goofy sci-fi stories about killer robots and aliens who look like farm animals. Face claims have never been much on my mind. I have thought a good deal about voices because I would like to produce some audio books if I can ever get together a setup which didn't sound like bottled static. I've been working off the assumption that I would be doing all the voices myself.

This thread got me thinking about voice actors though. My all-time favorite voice belongs to the Vtuber named Projekt Melody. If I could pick a dream cast for my main series, Alien Fiction, I would start with her. (NSFW language and jokes in the following vid)

My initial instinct is to cast Mel as my favorite character, the alien Isis. Honestly, Iron Mouse would be a much better fit. Let's just cast a lot of VShojo hosts in all the roles. They are all Vtubers.
