I've been following this artist, Nicole Smeltzer, who does most of her illustrations with cut-paper. I like the variety of textures she gets in her work -- so I recently decided to try making a digital version of cut-paper art in my comic.

Let me know what you think.

Hmm. rather than a shadow, it looks more like a fuzzy outline on every shape.

To get a more paper-cut like look, I suggest you offset the shadows a bit more to the left or right and make them sharper, since you're emulating paper stacked very closely together (the closer an object is to another object, the sharper the cast shadow will be).

Don't worry if the shadow disappears altogether on one edge. It happens.

Good job experimenting. I definitely feel more creators should experiment, get themselves out of their comfort zone from time to time. I'm not saying that conforming to the status quo is bad, but I think challenging it and being proud, not afraid, of pushing the boundaries should be encouraged. Good stuff here.
