I write a dragon centric story, in a dragon centric world filled with dragons.
Of course my favorite fantasy creature are kobolds (The cute lizardy d&d version :3)
In all seriousness though, there are plenty of fantasy creaturues in JTA.
The world itself is populated by anthropomorphic animals, and ruled by the aforementioned dragons. But there are many more creatures, even though so far we only saw black dogs (and a hydra in the latest chapter i'm writing).
There are also demons, naga/merman, fey folk, and many more, some of them have human levels of inteligence and receive proper race names (like the ones I just mentioned), but some are more animalistic and are universaly categorized as monsters, there are literally endless possbilities of what the group is gonna find on the next corner of the world.
And as the story goes we will see more and more of it.
As for what makes them unique... Well... A good chunk of later chapters revolves around explaining that in a world where a wolf person talks to a fox/bull hybrid about their naga boss unusual lunch habits, what exactly would be 'the norm'? Why are some races and people ostracized from society while others are allowed a free pass?
There is a deep layer of discussion here that we will get to later, for now races are mostly just a bonus. Vernon is a manned wolf, so he got a good nose and ears. Grey is a lynx (with some hybrid traits) so his tongue is barbed and he speaks rather unusally. And Azreth is a dragon so he has some strange abilities, some of which he is not even aware off.
