I've been a long time fan of Detective Conan (a.k.a. Case Closed). It was one of the first anime series that I was really hooked on when it aired on TV, around 2008 or 2009, and after it ended, I started buying the manga. I still need to go buy the last volume, which came at the beginning of this month.

I used to love American comics like DC and Marvel, especially the older ones. However the styles got to me. The fact that all the heroes and many of the villains were the same kind of buff, and all the women were the same kind of build, and all of them wore spandex, I was bored. But then I got into manga. My first one was Fullmetal Alchemist. I was like, HOLY CRAP! THIS IS WHAT COMICS CAN BE? WHY DOES IT READ THIS WAY?

Now I follow like forty different series. Anytime I go to the library I grab anything I can. Sometimes I check out thirty volumes at a time (If I have a bag, even more).

My Favorites are Black Butler, Hunter X Hunter, Tegami Bacchi, Bleach, ONE PIECE!!!, Toriko, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Bakuman, and Trigun. Sorry Naruto. I used to love you, but the Shippuden style just doesn't look as fluid to me. I'll still read it, but dat uncanny valley tho.

@MylCreates I first really started getting into manga because of Cardcaptor Sakura~ I love CLAMPS's style and even thought they use a lot of cliches, they use them in a way that's just so addicting! However, like you, I tend to stop reading their stories halfway when it starts getting too long. I've only ever finished Cardcaptor Sakura :/

@AnnaLandin I've only read two volumes of Blade of the Immortal, but I reference the artwork a lot because I use traditional mediums for my webtoons as well. I just love the style!

@vincentprendick I've always wanted to check out HunterxHunter but I'm hesitant ever since I learned that fans also call it Hiatus x Hiatus lol I don't think I could stand an indefinite cliff hanger T^T

The Hiatus is over for now. But is's very worth the wait either way. (At least read the first arc or two. If you don't like how complicated it gets, then that's just how it is)

Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist is my all time favourite. It's just amazing! The story has everything what a good story need. Action, comedy, drama, love...And it's full with twists! The characters are lovely, and very realistic. And the art! It seems simple, but actually it isn't. The backgrounds are very detailed and the action scene's are amazingly done. I couldn't find better than this one.

On the other hand I prefer to draw fantasy/shoujo type stories, so if I need to name a favourite one, that would be Marmalade Boy, and Penguin Brothers.

Even so I don't read lots of manga, I usually see lots of anime. But my favourite comic of all time is definitely Maus. But I'm into Marvel and DC too, specially 80's stuff.

Wow, yeah, Alita was great. Have you read Ashen Victor? Same author, Yukito Kishiro. This time he draws with a lot of influence from Frank Miller's Sin City. It's beautiful. The story happens in the same universe that Alita, its a motor-ball story.

I grew up with Dragon Ball, and I wouldn't be here doing what I'm doing if it wasn't for Akira Toriyama. But my favourite manga is Urusei Yatsura, of Rumiko Takahashi, who I think must be the Kami manifesting itself through the pannels.

If I have to point what I think is the perfect comic, I would say Asterix. It is because I see it flawless, with everyone of its components in the right measure.

Yeah I have. I liked it a lot, although the story was short - but nothing compares to the beautiful art and the characters of the main story line. Kishiro definitely shows how much of an artist he is, being able to change his drawing style like this.

Actually I don't actually read manga and graphics novel cause I prefer watching anime but my first license manga that I've read is One Piece but only it's chapter 1 if you don't believe me checkout my anime profile regarding manga and anime

Favorite Manga: Probably tied with DN Angel (though she discontinued the series....whyyyyy??? TAT) and Chrono Crusade (the ending had nothing but feels)

Favorite Graphic Novel: Anything made by Jhonen Vasquez. I love his twisted humor and his artstyle :'3

And JHONEN VASQUEZ. I have a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac shirt that I've owned for like ten years now and I get a lot of compliments on it from random people on the street haha Love his gothic style and black humor as well!

My favorite graphic novel is between The Killing Joke by Allen Moore (it's a Batman vs the Joker story) and the Scott Pilgrim series. Pretty different sides of the spectrum, but both good!

Favorite manga is World Trigger. I'm addicted to the story. The anime isn't that great though.
