Fellow Traditional Artists Anywhere?

Hi, I'm pretty new here. Actually I just joined a minute ago. I have my own comic (just haven't gotten around to scanning it in lol). I have used tapas before and all I ever see is digital art. While I love the look of it, I myself hate drawing digitally. Doesn't click with me. Do you think that will hinder my success in any way?

Naaaah, medium doesn't matter much as long as you got a cool story, and can tell it mostly effectively. My comic is doing pretty decent for being all ~natural~, just short of 1k readers.

Keep doing you (and advertise a lot), and you'll be right as rain.

I think most readers don't care (or often know) if a work is traditional or digital, as long as the traditional art is imported and presented well. I do Slugworld in pencil and pen and it comes across fine since I make sure that it come out nice and crisp. I can't provide a bad example since I'm against singling people out as bad examples, but as long as your image quality is good it really doesn't matter.

You can scan most things at retail office stores like staples, office depot, office max, fed ex/kinkos print stores or even at libraries! So if you have one of those nearby you can donit there.

I work traditionally for inks and then add color/screentones digitally. I have seen other artists work traditionally, but the way you present it matters. Also text needs to be neat too. Ouo

Probably! Some printers scan but not all. If you have a scanning feature, definitely start using it!

I use pencil, charcoal, and recently ink for my stupid little cartoons. I hated drawing digitally so I gave my tablet to my daughter and now she's animating. Good call I guess.

nope, actually the funny thing about most digital artist is that we strive to make our digital art look like traditional art XD be it the blending possibilities of paint brushes to paper texture

so no being traditional will not hinder you, just make sure the story is engaging and nobody will care about it being digital or traditional ; -P

Welcome! Don't worry, people make comics in many different mediums, I've seen some beautiful ones myself done in watercolor. I'm actually a traditional artist who did all her work in sketchbooks, but started my current comic in order to teach myself to draw digitally.

I make my comic digitally but I definitely post traditional art online. I'd say the most important thing if you are going to make your story traditionally, is to make sure that it is photographed/scanned well.

My comic Tempest Red ( http://www.tapas.io/series/Tempest-red ) is completely traditional (watercolor and inks) , and I have a decently sized subscriber count! I mean my art isn't perfect, but I think if there's any major shortcoming in my story, it'd fall in my dialogue / writing.
