For your series, what are you studying/researching now?

My fantasy novel is a little on the grim side, so researching medieval autopsy to set good scene and tone for the episode I'm currently working on. Also researching the differences between types of ghosts.

Pretty cool creating unique names for your weeks and months. I did the same for the months and days in my world, but decided against using them in the novel because it possibly required an exact level of consistency in the passage of time that I wouldn't be able to fully keep track of, though I do include my names for the four seasons because my story needs that particular aspect.

I've been on a big medieval kick as well. Currently I'm looking into medieval foods and recipes and even spices. What kind of autopsy's did they do in medieval times? I've done some research on the ordeal trials (some crazy stuff there) and the transition to a trial by jury. I'm excited to hear about it!

I haven't gotten into specifics yet. But, what I found particularly interesting so far was that there was a considerable amount of scientific progress in later Middle Ages.
Researchers have found large amount of evidence showing that not only were autopsies and dissection not banned by the church back then, but in fact, they were sometimes ordered by the church as a means to look for signs of 'holiness' in the body of saintly person.
The rumor that the church banned autopsies started in the renaissance period by anti-church propagandists.

This reminds me of a Roald Dahl book about a married couple I read as child, The Twits, I think. In it he describes the wife as starting out as very pretty child but as she grew up her bad attitude and despicable thoughts began to show in her face until she became so ugly people couldn't bear to look at her.
The message of how thoughts can shape people in various ways always stuck with me.

Bachuchara Mata - goddess worshipped by eunuchs/third-gender fringe groups of India, and ironically, her mount is a rooster
Mayan religion, bloodletting practices, Kulkulcan/Quetzecoatl
Now I wanna look into Sumerian/Egyptian cultures and see what chicken-related stuff I can dig up.

Yeah, that all's gonna be explored to some extent in my next run...

I once researched all manner of toxic plants and poisonous substances for a medieval murder mystery starring an apothecary and plague doctor. Types of plants, how much can kill you, the symptoms and stages of poisoning. Antidotes if there are any...

The bits that I'm researching for I haven't written yet, so spoilers if you're reading my comic.
Anyway, I wanna include some prehistoric creatures as characters, so I love to read about all the different kinds of animals that used to live. Lots of dinosaurs, but also just anything that was around back then. For now I'm just doing designs, but I might also look at how they behaved and add that to my characters characteristics. I also wanna include pirates, since that's one of my main special interests at the moment, and I'm pretty much always researching pirates. I think I might add in some pirate dinosaurs lol
