I usually do b, c, and d. I see nothing wrong with tropes as they are already. BUT I will say subverting tropes does tire me out a bit what with everyone trying to do that. It makes things more predictable in a sense so the writer has to be REALLY good at subverting.
@DasIstWunderblyat Disney is a big example of this. They went against their tropes and now they're abiding by new tropes. One of them being "Oh wow, we're doing THIS cliche haha", twist villains, and multigenerational family drama. Like... geez. Strange Worlds, Turning Red, and Encanto weren't that far apart lmao.
@HGohwell Yeah I'm so done with evil Superman. I'm so happy that they're making a traditional Superman movie. The only superhero subversion I'm down for is Watchmen by Alan Moore. That's it. We don't need anymore. Mark Millar's work? Never happened. Who even IS Mark Millar? Give me baby blue boy scout Superman who helps people with a smile on his face (ALTHOUGH Frank Miller's Daredevil gives me life and if it wasn't for that we wouldn't have gotten the greatest superhero thing of all time... Season 1 Daredevil).
