I also feel this a lot of the time. I basically gave up my gamedev hobby completely for comics, and although I still feel the urge to make a game every once and a while I recognize that I'm WAY worse at gamedev, and I like the real version of making comics, as opposed to the idealized version of gam…
I hate keeping scenes up because whenever I see them a day or an hour later it feels cringeworthy to me, so I delete it or edit it.. I don't really get a lot of stories done because of this. I guess I'm also not that good at writing more grounded stories, too.
since I'm a hobbyist, im self taught. youtube videos and googling, since I don't see this art thing going anywhere outside of a hobby
Manga plus creators is interesting. I uploaded there in the vertical format a little white ago, but what interested me is that so far it's the only popular site I've found that does horizontal format... The only problem is, it ONLY goes from right to left.. which makes sense, I guess, but since I re…
I really like medieval fantasy, but modern fantasy can also be good sometimes. Fantasies that are so far past our world that it can't even be quantified are my favorites, though. I prefer medieval fantasy because I like unrealistic sword fights a lot more than gunfights, but that's just me. My perso…
Any villain can be memorable. Write what you like, first and foremost. It's your story, after all. What makes a villain memorable is character, in my opinion. Dragon Ball villains are great examples of this. Anyone remember Dabura? Anyone remember any sort of character traits that guy had? Of cour…
it can't "ruin" things, unless it's SUPER EGREGIOUS, but it can definitely 100% soil things and bring them down a letter grade for me. I absolutely hate fanservice, but I can appreciate things despite their flaws.. but the fact that it's just everywhere in anime is super annoying. If it's a quick pa…
Nope. I don't really know how, other than just.. posting it on my twitter and calling it a day. Marketing is a craft in and of itself, one that has to be practiced as well, and being that I'm just a hobbyist for the moment, I'm fine with relaxing on the advertising for now. I agree with the notion t…
It seems like there's been this idea going around that if you include a sensitive topic, you're somehow "endorsing" it.. which takes away a lot of the nuance of writing. Of course there's people who endorse the horrible things that they write about, that's why they get criticized, but to say that yo…
My next story is going to have a romance subplot, which is kind of scary being that it'll be my first in a published story.. So I don't really have a lot of experience writing it. Oh well. You only know if you try.
It's awful. Always the hardest part of writing, and anything that I write to 'begin' something feels too embarrassing to share. Either that, or far too boring and disinteresting for anyone to care. Eventually, not caring about the quality is the only way to produce a chapter 1 for me.
I prepare it wayyy beforehand. I'd hate to be caught off guard and have people heavily criticize my series for being written as it's drawn. I also like to have things come together with foreshadowing and the like.
I haven't watched Perfect Blue yet.. but I'm planning to. I love Satoshi Kon and I love Susumu Hirasawa's music. Thanks.

I like the second one more, because I'm more of a fantasy type of guy, but the first one's pretty cool too. Tells you about the characters, sets up the tone, and the art's pretty good. The first one seems to be a lot more grounded than the second story.
write it down. keep it. write down every little unique story idea you have. Eventually, you'll find new additions or new ideas, and you'll find two ideas are similar, so why not combine them? Keep doing that, and eventually you get a decent plot or two.
Yeah, certainly. Successful people, especially those with stories, get a lot of attention and haters that would be difficult for me to manage.. even constructive criticism is still a bit demeaning sometimes. But, I don't see a big pop like that happening any time in the next few decades, so I'm not …
those don't really bug me but "he let go a breathe he didn't realize he held" shoots me dead in the spot. I just hate that one for an irrational reason
Do manga count? 1. Fire Punch 2. Goodbye, Eri 3. Oyasumi Punpun 4. Mob Psycho 100 5. Akira 6. Monster 7. Chainsaw Man 8. Berserk 9. Paprika 10. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure 11. Millennium Actress 12. Death Note 13. Levius Um.. and I forgot the rest. I don't really watch a lot of anime. It was fun to…
Nope, and I probably won't ever do that because I don't go out of my way to excessively market my stories, so I'd be pretty consistently low on the rankings. Numbers can be pretty toxic, anyways.
I think it's very nice! It definitely gives me dorky friends in space vibes. My only critique is the odd empty space in the middle of the banner that keeps drawing my eye, maybe you could put something in the background(floating characters?) to make it feel less empty or raise the title to make it f…
I think more than 3 sentences in one speech bubble is too much text. Unless you're trying to do a jokey "character talks too much" thing, or you find a unique way to make the art so insane that the reader somehow simultaneously reads a whole paragraph long speech bubble while staying focused. [ima…
3-5, because all the ideas come together for the finale. The first season usually isn't bad, but the rest blow it out of the water.
Black And White: Pros: -Has the potential to be more moody (Although, not always) -Higher contrast on average -Useful for a 'manga style' -Often way faster, unless you REALLY want to make a masterpiece every panel -Saves you from having to spend a lot of time learning to master color.. except for…
crap. i thought tapas was just for lurking the forums all day!
I try my best and I make what I want to make. I know that there's others with better art and better stories, but as long as I can publish a story and say "I made that, me and me alone", then I'm happy. That's why I'm putting in my B game.
i just thought the faces were weird because the setting and characters are weird/off kilter.. of course we can always improve our fundamentals, but to me, it's fine. Vague criticism is the worst form of criticism, in my opinion.
I like them both but I like Watchmen way better.. but indeed I do dislike when deconstructions boil down to "I made lovable character say fuckword".. great deconstructions still have a big place in my heart, though
to be fair with the evil superman example, the popular ones in recent memory (the boys, invincible) are adaptations of comics that came out a while ago, when that idea wasn't so mainstream.. I think a lot of people are wanting a "back to form" superman again, now.
Yes. It was a challenge. Here were my issues: Consistency - This somewhat affected every character that appeared more than once, but my main character almost looked like a different person every panel. I internalized her facial features and tried my best, and I think as it went on she got more and…
Good question. In the first scene, my main character is around I wanna say 12? Then, after a timeskip, they're around 17-20? After that, more years pass, and they're 22, so the story takes place over the course of 10 years, although a lot of it is skipped as it's a short story. So, roughly 3,650 da…
