So maybe there's been a thread like this before, and if so, I apologize.

So I've noticed here on Tapas that I've been able to make friends via comments and the forums fairly easily, and have been getting a small but steady trickle of followers through exposure that way.
On Webtoon, it's sort of like shouting into the void. I've gotten an occasional follower here and there over the past few weeks (its still very early for my comic), but it doesn't seem like there's anything I can directly do save continuing to update each week. Plus, I can't see who my followers are on that platform, which makes it a bit frustrating trying to figure out how they found me.

Does anyone have suggestions for getting followers on Webtoon?

I am a noob with Webtoons as I never tried it (I went with Tapas first over Webtoon :sweat_02:) I can only say that to get followers on Webtoon is trying to get some on other social platforms you are on, other than here as the moderators lock posts that advertise stuff from Webtoon unless it is discreet, as this is a regular way to get followers. I can see the struggle though, from what I have read, Webtoons does not have a lot of ways for creators to interact with their followers

Hey there,

I have the same problem. It looks like the solution might be raising followers throughout using other social media. Since I engange in forums actively (not that long, a couple of days) I have noticed a little raise in traffic around my webtoon. So I am gonna try making friends around here and getting inspiration. However on webtoon this method seems to be quite useless, as you said.

This comment ist no solution but I just wanna tell you that your not alone - so I hope it helped you in this sense.

I would like to read your webtoon btw.
Wanna send me the link?

Its good to know I'm not the only one having this problem hahaha. I was worried that there was just some big, obvious thing I hadn't been doing on the platform.

I'm currently posting my comic on both Tapas and Webtoon, but the links can be found here:

I found the link to yours in your description and subbed! I look forward to reading it soon.

Ugh WT feels like shouting into the void lol.
I've been posting since February and still only have 350-ish subs.

It's a stark contrast to my experience here on Tapas. Granted I started on Tapas 5 years ago, but the community here is still much better. And I really appreciate the lower bar to unlock ad revenue on Tapas, and the tipping feature. Like I'm nowhere near WT's requirement for ad revenue sharing.

All my series on Tapas5 btw

Buncha people always saying how it's easier to get subs on webtoon. Not my experience. Like watching grass grow, change it's mind and sink back down.

@joannekwan
Just subbed! I'm really glad to know the experience seems universal hahaha.

@snowy
That's literally it, yeah. Feels like watching grass grow.

Oh, definitely. Literally every subscriber is a big deal to me hahaha.

Oh my god it’s so tough to get followers and my artist got really busy so I had to find another one and we have to do it all over since the style doesn’t match :sob::sob::sob:The cover is by the new artist

I also upload my comic strips on both webtoon and tapas, but overall I would say I love tapas so much more because of how user friendly it is, and how there is actually a community here. In tapas, there's the forum, and all the notifications when you get a like, comment, sub etc. But for webtoon, there's really nothing to enhance the experience. But webtoon still stands out for being the one with a larger readership.

Love how questions about Webtoon are asked here because they have no forum :smiley:

I don't understand why Webtoon is more popular than Tapas, I think Tapas is more user-friendly and offers more interesting things for creators.
I tried Webtoon too, I have no idea how people found my comic there. I also can't click on their names to view their profile. I kinda stopped uploading there when I didn't really gain subscribers anymore. Right now I am focusing on Tapas.

That is so annoying! You have to google a person's username to see if they have other works on webtoon.

yeah I just don't bother to do that. That's why I prefer Tapas.

If you're reading their comic on desktop, you should be able to click their name and find the other stories.

Can't find stories through commenters, but you are able to find the creator's other stories if you already have one of their comics up.
