It is a beautiful afternoon here—only 90 degrees out, which means it's really getting into fall. Or at least false fall.
I just updated my novel this afternoon! Here's a snippet from the most recent chapter:
“So,” she said, sighing and sinking further down the sofa. “I don’t think you’re working with him. No, you couldn’t have worked together, but there is the matter of the sightings.”
“I heard about those. People scare themselves. See things that aren’t there. You used to think your rooms were haunted.”
“I’m still not convinced they weren’t. But yes, I brushed it off as superstition at first. We painted you black enough. You were meant to scare children and their parents alike, so if there ever was another volshebnik as stupid and dangerous as you were, the small folk would think twice before following him. We wanted you to be their worst nightmare. So, yes, I might have cause to believe that people are just seeing things. But then, here you are.” She sat up straight again. “So that bird’s not gonna sing anymore.”
