So as some of you may know, I'm working on a new comic project as well (I'll talk about it later). And I'm curious to see if you are planning something aside from your current project as well?

So this space is to talk about comics/novels which are still in the making! (And not on Tapas yet)

I'll wait with talking about mine so others can have an opportunity to talk about theirs

I do have several novel projects in mind, but the one I'm focusing right now is a whole editing/rewriting for a novel I posted on another platform. I'm planning to take them to Tapas at the end of this year (I surely hope), in case I'm busy next year (wml) :sweat_01:

I think I mention it a bit but I am currently working on a Fantasy/Dark Romance. Really writing it to just go directly off the rails, I'm pretty stoked for it. The only problem is that compared to my last project it's a lot more work--this one is in episodes, not pages, it's in color, it's just...I think because I'm quarantined until the vaccine comes out basically (long story) I've been kind of making it too complicated? Will probably have to pare it back when this quarantine situation ends and I have more commitments to do.

I also have a short story that I wrote and partially drew about a romance with a tree (It was mostly to learn CSP) but I felt like...it could be interpreted the wrong way? So I feel the need to rewrite so it wouldn't be. That's real vague but you probably know what I mean.

How about you? I gathered from comments you wrote in other places yours is a fantasy, right?

I have a nano-novel I'm working on! The last couple days my creativity has just plummeted though (thanks to the stress from the elections).

It's a BL with marriage of convenience and may-September relationship. One character has just gotten out of rehab at the beginning of the first chapter. It was originally supposed to be a little bit of a goofier storyline, but I don't think I know how to write light hearted because all of my stories end up drama filled

@shfra13 good luck! How long is the novel you're rewriting?

@rajillustration that sounds like more work indeed! Coloured pages do pop out more a lot in my opinion so that can work in your favour. And yeah, Covid is a thorn in my side as well.

Yes, currently I write a Action/Fantasy, my upcoming project still remains on the action side of things but is less fantasy and more machines. I'll talk about it in a second

@WillowTree oh you mean for the NaNoWriMo? Wasn't that about writing a novel within a month with a word count of 50.000?

Good luck on nanowrimo! And also hoping for the best for the election. I can only imagine the stress you guys are going through right now

Since the first draft was basically traditional novel chapter-length, I do a lot of dividing. Currently at 28 chapters after cutting, deleting, adding, and rewriting stuff from (previously) 7 chapters. The entire novel itself was 20 chapters, so I'm not sure how many chapters I'll end up with.

Ah yeah, that's a lot more chapters than it was originally, so I can imagine the extra amounts of work you have to out into it

The total word count was > 60k -- so, yes, quite an extra work. But, I love the story, that's why I'm really committed to this one ahahah

I'm currently working with two side-stories for The Memorable Bittersweet Days:
One that would be just a bunch of funny stuff that happens during the second arc (nothing serious), and another that serves as a spin-off and serves as a complement to the story (not something you must read to understand it). Both would be in black and white or greyscale.

So, it's time and I'm going to talk about my upcoming comic project, Square One

Square One will become a action comic with minor fantasy and scifi elements. The summary and plot is as follows:

Summary

"When the tyrannical queen Danivere Wayslaende loses in battle, she gets struck of all her power, and is imprisoned to reflect on her actions.

Determined to reclaim her lost status, Dani breaks out of prison by force and starts from square one, gaining empathy for those around her on the way and learning about the secrets of the war years ago.

Will she reclaim her power and the trust of her people? And most of all, is Danivere in time to stop a vengeful force from the past?"

My motives

I'm really excited to work on it once I've outlined the plot! It gives me the opportunity to show how much I have grown in contrast to RotH (my current comic).

I had the rough concept of Square One in 2018, but it wasn't until last year that I saw it laying around in my google drive that it sparked something inside me. So I started writing and drawing concept art.
And it's starting to come together. I almost have 6 chapters on my belt at the moment of writing, and a plethora of concept art:

(Concept) Art

(Concept for the title logo, I'm going to polish it once I come close to completing the outline for the plot)

(Character sheets I made for myself and to tease Square One to my audience on instagram)

(Various pieces of art I made in relation to Square One)

The summary is interesting! I like the drawing with the car, looks cool. Good luck on this one! :hype_01: When do you plan to publish it?

Oh, cool--Yeah I recognize your character designs from other threads you've put em in and now I finally know their context! Random question, but does the license plate have a deeper meaning or was it just a cool string of letters. I keep trying to read it as "Caviar" "C1 Saver" but that can't be right.

@shfra13 Thanks!
I'm not sure really, considering I'm quite busy with my internship now and the fact I already got my current comic on my plate. I'm saying maybe a soft 2023, but probably further than that

@rajillustration yeah haha I have been teasing it for a while.
The license plate says C13AV3R which I intended for it to look like Cleaver (referencing the mc's axe). I do understand the confusion though

OMG IT DOES SAY CLEAVER! It was right there!

I mean to be fair I'm real bad at reading vanity plates so...haha I can't believe I didn't catch that.

Hmmm, well I wrote A LOT in this novel that I was intending for traditional publishing, but I kind of decided it was too weird and off-the-rails for traditional publishing to ever to consider it, so I'm thinking of submitting it to Tapas instead. I definitely have a crap-ton of buffer for it, haha.

It's about the last human man alive who has to survive in a harsh desert environment where a lot of different lady tribes consistently kidnap him. There are also mutants and people with psychic powers and stuff haha. I'm kind of on the fence about posting it, though for some reason.

Heyo! I've started planning a new mystery novel (a different one to the other new one I've already said I was gonna write a few months ago lol oops).

It's going to be about a boarding school in 80's Queensland, Australia and a weird mystery involving disappearing girls. It's tentatively called Where Kookaburras Laugh and here is the draft novel cover for it:

I actually have a novel coming up. I'll be posting the first two episodes on the 19th and 20th (since it's my birthday and also the inksgiving event).

It's just a typical fantasy novel.
How bout yours? What's your upcoming comic about?

Now this is my kinda thread :smirk:

I've talked about it a fair amount the last few months as it's been in progress, but I have an upcoming slice of life Dungeons & Dragons comic called:

Background:

A few of my friends invited me to start a D&D campaign over the summer (this is only my 2nd time playing) and after some humorous things already started happening the very first play session I could tell it would be fun to adapt as a comic~

Synopsis:

The story thread/campaign premise is that the royal prince was assassinated and the custom to determine a new heir to the throne is to have parties of nobles and their entourage travel the continent to compete for clout and the approval of the people by completing heroic deeds. And so we set off on a Road Trip to attain Royal status... a Royal Road Trip :sunglasses:

Concept Art:

There's admittedly not a ton. The original plan was to do this as a super quick and simple thing on the side of another comic that I was writing over the summer. HOWEVER that one got caught up in the writing phase so I decided to reprioritize and just focus on this one as a main comic for now  As such I have these illustrations for 4/5 of the main characters (I'm hoping to do the 5th soon... maybe this weekend even xD)

Adoro
Nobility, Party Leader, Cleric

Two
Degenerate, Sus, Rogue

Jaegen
So Basically he's very smol, sick baby nerd, Wizard

Colletta
Team Grandma, Seamstress, Phoenix Sorceress

Noel
Bodyguard, Tavern Regular, Frost Knight

(this is my character... and also the one without a proper illustration yet v_v)

Samplers:

I'm 5 episodes in so far, so here's a quick taste of the series~ I'll drop in Episodes 1 & 5. The first 3 episodes need some work and light editing because they were created before I decided to spend more time and effort on this comic

2 2

Expected Launch:

Hopefully like late November-Mid December? I'm telling myself that I'm not gonna stress too hard about maintaining a strict schedule, but I still would like to aim for ~bi-weekly releases with a healthy amount of buffer to help facilitate that. I'm currently drawing episode 6 and would like to get through ep. 8 before I start posting I think. Although... if December rolls around and I'm a good chunk into ep. 7 I may just pull the trigger anyways :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ty DualDragons for providing a place to self indulge :purple_heart:
