Oh I'd be down to check it out. I'm always open to talk over things or at least give something a solid chance.
I agree though, I think both the artist and the author need to both have passion for the project. They need to genuinely care and be invested in it, it shouldn't just be a job. But that's what drives me as an artist, feeling like I'm really putting my own signature into it as well and having some artistic freedom, you know. Like, "hey, this is a cool fight scene, what do you think about this angle and these poses?" Stuff like that. And mutually hyping each other over the comic as it's being created, that's important as well. I've had authors who just paid for each page and responded with "cool dude, good job" and that's it. No feedback, didn't want to discuss anything, zero interest in seeing sketches or thumbnails... it was depressing.
BL is actually new to me, funny enough. I had never done romance and wanted to try something outside my comfort zone. My partner suggested giving it a shot and I figured I may as well. But I used to do more like detective/noir/action stuff. Some horror, things like that.
But yeah. I'm always happy to do what I can.
