Hoooo boy, yes. I have twice the subs on WEBTOON as I do on Tapas, and that's despite posting and promoting frequently here in the forums. I feel like with Tapas, every sub I have is one I had to go out and find, whereas with WEBTOON, I can post an update and have a few people find my story through CANVAS organically.
WEBTOON has a much larger audience. That, combined with the better discoverability of newly updated CANVAS comics, makes growing an audience far easier. Tapas gets a lot of things on the creator, monetisation, and engagement side right, but they could definitely learn a few lessons from WEBTOON regarding discoverability for small creators.
That said, I also promote my WEBTOON version on Reddit, and my WEBTOON version is in vertical scroll format while my Tapas version is in page format. (Which is how I initially draw each page.) The choices I've made regarding formats will make a difference to popularity, since vertical scrolling formats tend to do better overall. I may switch my Tapas version to vertical in time, but first I need to find a new place for my page version comic to go.
