A few months ago for my friends birthday, I made an animation titled Happy Birthday. My crudely drawn animation took two days and countless hours of researching anime birthday scenes. I initially thought she would hate what I did and I effectively ruined her special day forever. Anyway I sent it to her and she loved it. Everytime I look at the animation I made...I cry a little. I feel like I could done more, you know. Anyway, I moved on to a much bigger project, animating my own series. Hopefully, everything goes well. Also kinda wish Tapas Forum would let me show the animation I made since its not in gif format

That's super nice of you! I'm glad your friend enjoyed the picture. Do you know if there's any way to convert it to a GIF?

For a crush at the time, but is now a friend.. So! For her birthday, I made a cover of a Lana Del Rey song, "Young and Beautiful" but I sorta made it worse because I decided, hey.. I'll sing it too, why not? (Bad idea, I'm not a singer by any means .) Anyways, she said she liked it but I think she was being too nice to say otherwise lmao

The intention was there, but the skill wasn't

I've drawn my friends pets for their birthdays before, and I made a particularly personal painting of the family dog for my dad when he got ill which took me three months to complete. It was also the first drawing that had ever made me cry from sheer frustration because I felt like it needed to be perfect - he loved it though.

I design wedding stationery, so whenever a friend or family member get engaged they suddenly appear. :joy:

I donā€™t mind. I see it as a compliment really (and an easy wedding gift).

I was unable to upload it so, I uploaded to YouTube instead. The link is below. Also, yes I'm replying to everyone's comment. I'm currently animating for my ten episodes series. I had to constantly redraw my characters. Lol!

Yes! I enjoy giving people little gifts, and that includes art. I've gotten anything from "oh yeah, thanks" to people keeping a painting for years.

I'm glad she loved your animation, what a thoughtful present! Animating things takes so much time and effort

Did not actually make something but wrote a story for one of my dear friends in which she was with Kim taehyung from bts.

These kind of presents are always the best! Animations are also really hard to make, it's awesome your friend loved it! :relieved:

I have a friend that I've been giving my art with her characters as presents since 2006 šŸ¤
She even had my picture from 2006 framed in her room, I was always in awe when I saw it, especially considering her mom probably hated it guts
This year I redrew a picture I gave her in 2007, decided that I am good enough now to try it.

A lot of my irl friendships started out as online friendships, so I'm sure if it counts, but I draw them their OCs for their birthdays c: Some examples:

As for friends that I've known only irl since the beginning- I used to make birthday cards for my coworkers from my team in my previous job. It was actually a collab, other girls from the team would throw ideas, I drew it, someone else coloured it, and we all signed it. It was nice
I also do Christmas cards myself! And with my friend from highschool we had a tradition of drawing birthday, christmas and sometimes easter cards with small drawings of us (the drawing is ugly but at least I see the progress in my art journey haha)

For my other friend's birthday I made a whole comic. I don't even remember what was it about but I kinda hope she doesn't have it anymore, as I was 14 back then and I don't relate anymore to by sense of humour from those times cx
