Have you ever tried making food you've seen in comics/TV?

I remember once when I was watching "Totally Spies", I saw these double chocolate chip mint cookies and they looked decadent, so since I adore baking, I tried making them in real life and it worked! My husband adores them too.

Has anyone else ever seen food in fiction and tried making it IRL? If you did, how did it turn out and what was the dish?

In Hawk and Flo Adventures there's one dish called 'The Potato Cake Bean Burger' I've eaten it in real life. It's amazing

I’ve made onigiri. Tho it’s not that hard to make, you mostly just need a mold.

I also admit to getting some soboro bread after watching Squid Game. There are a lot of Korean bakeries where I live.

I tried this once; it was so time-consuming since I was doing it traditionally, and for 10 people, it burned in the end.

I did manage to somewhat replicate some of the food from Food Wars.

Results varied but they were good enough. It was a good learning experience.

I used plastic wrap to fold the rice and nori over the tuna. The only issue is that the rice that's used for onigiri isn't sold in the US. The stickiest rice I had was some sushi rice which I thought did a good enough job.

The onigiri molds help compact the them into their shapes even if you are using a less sticky rice. Depending on where you live in the US, there might be an asian supermarket which tends to sell the stickier rice. Where I live in the US they are very common but I know that isn't the case everywhere.

I know you are talking about the onigiri but you could put jelly inside soboro bread and it would probably taste like a donut.

I love cooking and baking, so any media I watch if it has a dish I’ve never tried before, I really want to make it! I have the Studio Ghibli cookbook that I’ve made a few recipes from, and I watched One Piece so I want to make seafood risotto.

I tried recreating the dish from Turning Red that Mei-Mei's dad made in that one cooking montage, I liked the results. Thinking about cooking it again. Sorry, I never took a photo but you can image its kind of similar to the movie.

Not sure if 'GIANT fried sticky rice balls' are a thing (NOT onigiri), but I saw it...somewhere...maybe a meme? That's something I'd like to try--and most definitely fail at making...
