Hello from Brazil

I've been active here on the forum (and on Tapastic) for a while but I think I've never presented myself formally.

So, hello, I'm Guilherme Cahú from Brazil.
I have a webcomic called Badger Badger and its standart publication starts in a weekly basis next friday, always at 7am PST (without daylight saving)(which is 2pm UTC+0). It's not pro quality and I recognize there is still much to improve, but in case someone is interested, I hope you at least like the story.

Although my webcomic is digitally made, I like illustrating traditionally, especially with colored pencils. You can find my work here on my DA and here on my Tumblr. There are more links on my profile =P

I don't know what to add here... maybe.. that it's 21°C here and the wind makes it feel like 0°?

Hello! Your comic looks really cool! I really like all of the soft textures you put into it. Hope you try to keep warm, it sounds really cold over there.

Hello and welcome! I like your comic style I think you will fit in nicely here.

Edit: Oh my god the first thing I thought when I saw your avatar was that it reminded me of Rewall! Checked your deviant only to find that your mouse warrior inspired by it. Definitely awesome, it is probably my favorite series of books. I'd been reading them since I was in elementary school and I'm still buy ones I have't read yet today. You are a cool person.

REDWAAAALLLL!!!
I love the series! I discovered it on december 2013 and I've been following the publication order since then! I just finished Martin the Warrior and I have The Bellmaker here on my shelf staring at me but for now I need to read other materials for college. When I have time, I'll go back to the series - won't be too long, I'm already missing it =/ Unfortunately the dollar is currently expensive related to Brazil's currency and it makes it really difficult to buy more books, as I have to import all of Redwall's - dammit.

Anyway, without Redwall this comic wouldn't exist. OK the only relation to the series is the animal figure of the badger, but Redwall inspired me to start planning other projects as well - for other comics and narratives. Who knows, in two or three years I may be materializing some of these ideas =D

Sometimes I wish I had discovereded the series before.

Yeah I was a big reader as a kid and I was constantly given book by relatives and such. I remember when I first saw redwall that I thought it would have been a book for a much younger audience, then I started reading it and couldn't stop. Definitely my favorite narrative as far as books go. The Bellmaker is one of my favorites actually, it would probably be my absolute favorite if not for Taggerung or Rackety Tam. (I could never figure out the series order despite them being listed in all the books.) That is unfortunate that they are so expensive to import, I actually re-bought a lot of them digitally through amazon, but I don't know if that would work in Brazil or no.

Ah I'd love to see more stuff by that series, you just don't get that brand of narrative or world building as much anymore. Perfect balance of seriousness and lightheartedness.

Eh, I'm glad I got into it when I did but hey better late than never!

I take Redwall as a great example for me. The way Brian Jacques defined the relations between some characters, the messages he shows through the story and the things we can learn from that... That's completely amazing. And the characters he created... What I most like about them is that they're all intelligent despite being good or bad. I think this simple, yet genious element is what is on the core of the series; it's what made it possible to be what it is today.

About the books, it's not a big deal actually. I only need to import them because Redwall doesn't have a brazilian edition (and I think translating and adapting it would be too hard, especially not knowing if the market would be receptive to it or not). I buy all the books (the cheapest paperback version) from BookDepository.com, from which I can buy with the best prices and 0 shipping costs. They're usually US$ 8 if I'm not mistaken, but the dollar here is currently R$ 3,86! D: When I was buying the books, it was around 2,50, 2,70... but it being almost R$ 4 is complete madness. The only solution is to wait for it to low .-. or to make money online and buy the books with it =_=

I prefer to read physical versions, so.. I need to go through this pain T__T

Yeah, I like that his messages are never preachy just thoughtful. The interactions are definitely what make the story, I feel like he as a narrator almost completely disappears and we are left with just the characters. And yeah it is kinda weird how even the "dumb" vermin end up getting the better of some of what I thought were the smartest characters. You can tell he really likes having his characters scheme. The only thing I kinda have trouble with is that the vermin almost always end up being thoroughly evil through and through, except for one book I read (actually the Bellmaker!) Minor hang up though and there is probably symbolism in there that goes over my head.

I understand wanting to have physical copies, for me just was too much money. I read pretty quick so buying a few books a week can sorta be a pain.
