Oh yeees! I think from my own experience handling multiple works that the key is the schedule. So what you really need as a strict schedule that you respect no matter what! If you keep consistent and on schedule you'll have no problem.
Another thing I can see as important is knowing yourself and how much work you can handle, it's not easy to juggle 2 serious comics, but you can add a comedy, 4 koma or slice of life into the mix. Since those require less work. Or you could try working with some interesting stylistic choices, like silhouettes or minimal lighting to work with a less time consuming comic.
No problem!!! It looks like fun! a a nice stylistic concept always help to grab attention.
If I might give a bit of advice here and I hope that's alright: I think you could play with he concept and push it to the next level by playing with colors to represent characters mood changes, and highlight the emotional aspect of a scene or give emphasis on a more subtle detail.
Like having brighter colors when 2 characters that have a good relationship are in the same scene, etc. Or play around and make fun concepts with colors.
Or even add some animated panels into the mix to signify change in moods or tones. You could easily have an establishing shot pass from afternoon to night with minimal editing work required and it could look pretty cool!
Sorry If I crossed the line, but I had the idea and thought it'll be nice to share!
Hi,
The forums here are awesome Lots of great advice to be had!
I read a couple of your comics and didn't realize you had a third one ^_^ I really enjoy Sombria. I actually love the way it starts with a raw, sketchy drawing style and intriguing story. I like how it's progressed to a more refined, finished look, but I think the earlier drawings made it 'click' for me. Bubbly Parfait is a lot of fun, too. I'm amazed at your ability to be able to produce 3 entire colour comics! I'm at my limit with just one, and it's black and white!
Responding to comments people make on your comics is also a great way to get involved with the community. There's some amazing readers as well as artists here.
Hello, Goobermation, and welcome to the forum!
Since I'm invited to ask anything, I will ask: What do you like to do for fun when you aren't drawing comics? For me, it's pretty much anything that involves physical exercise, because drawing, while fun, can be very sedentary (physically, not mentally). I'm posting a link to my Tapastic comic, and will be checking your three comics out real soon!
Hahaha I know right? Mermaids are great!!!
Also that looks fun! The neon style I find it very 90's and it's something I haven't seen used a lot, so adding that to the story I think it makes it pretty unique I like that! The designs of the creatures seem pretty colorful and fun to work with!
I like mermaids, fantasy settings, games, and mystery
Hello! candaceandco!
When I'm not doing comics, I like to dip my feet in 3D and programming I hope to be able to make some games or at last some interactive experiences with that knowledge.
OOOh your comic reminds me of some comics a used to real, where the strips were more horizontal, and the old style cartoon aesthetic sells it too! I haven't seen that in a while and it's pretty refreshing!! Good job!
OOOooh that's pretty interesting, I text based story, made exclusively in short burst and sentences. So it's easy to read. That's good considering the problems with writing and internet media is mostly that people don't have the time to read long texts.
So making it short and kind of dialogue based can help reel people in to your content easier.
@goobermation I think it's so cool how each of your comics has its own distinct look! Very cool!
-What inspired you to create each comic?
-Do you have an end for each, or will a couple just keep going?
-Do you find it hard to juggle all three comics at once?
If you have the time, and are interested, here's my comic about a team of time travelers whose job it is to stop time criminals from changing the past:
Thanks!! I'm glad you liked them!
-Well I always wanted to make stories, and comics are a good way to achieve that, for Bubbly Parfait I wanted to work with an animal society and other concepts that would make the description spoilery. As for Short Nonsense I wanted to experiment with genres. Sombrias is more of a style experiment and a learning experience.
-Yes all of them have an ending in fact Short Nonsense just ended today
-Not really as long as you have a schedule and make sure you can handle the workload then it's completely fine!
Also your comic seems like a fun read, i like the sprinkles of spanish here and there!
Yo, I'm Grimwit, artist of Jackie Welldrop2.
I'm an evil philosopher.
So, this is called the Gettier Problem...
A man is in a windowless room with his AC on. The AC makes it sound like rain, but he doesn't know it's the AC. He thinks he's hearing rain. The man says "It's raining." and he's right. Outside, at that moment, it is, indeed raining.
He's correct for the wrong reasons.
Is this knowledge?
Hello! I'm Heather AKA Sandpaperdaisy and I juggle a bunch of stuff on my stumbling, bumbling path to a better place.
I'm a full-time artist trying to do my best as the rookie in a small portrait company where everyone else is 12 years+ my senior even though I just celebrated my second year there. I'm also a mother of two, one with special needs, trying to give them both all the time and love they deserve, which is of course physically impossible (I think they both deserve it all, yet I am but one human). And lastly I'm a freelance artist and comic creator, so every spare moment I have is either spent attempting to tag my husband to or from his different-shift job, or doing my personal art stuff. Life is like a hurricane!
I have a bunch of comics on here and many more are coming, but that's simply because I've been working on them for 11 years and never done anything with them until now.
I dig your style and I dig mermaids, so I'll add you to my List of Cool Stuff (TM) to look at! I don't read comics on here very often though, leaving them for weeks until I do binge-sweeps, so I'm kind of scared to subscribe to new people if that means I'll be wrecking their algorithm-something??
Here's my schtick, top one has a mermaid in the most recent comic, humorously.
Hello Grimwit!
Interesting, I think it might be or not be knowledge depending on how you approach it, and how you define knowledge. But what I think is rather than if IT is or it's not knowledge, what's important is that it show how we define knowledge and the importance of testing when it comes to our knowledge.
He might be justified in his belief, but the luck factor makes it so the process of acquiring the knowledge and the logic behind it is false. And if it were put to the test it wouldn't stand as valuable knowledge.
So there's a problem if we define knowledge as, belief + justification, we kinda need more.
I played some MMOs and they had some weird effect on me. like a negative emotion would become extreme. Extreme rage or depression. I would stop and go back to normal me. So I banned my self from playing them. XD;
I haven't played FFXV. I plan to when the price comes down, I have a back log of games I'm playing or need to play. For the most part I'm catching my husband up on the Kingdom Hearts series before KH3 comes out. lol
But anyway, back to FFXV, I should say I like the more fantasy and colorful games. The new one hasn't grabbed my attention to much because it's vary modern and kind of just dark. But I hear the characters are really fun so I want to play it eventually. I'm more excited to play the FFVII remake. So far Crisis Core is the best for FFVII for me. I love Zack. lol
My most favorite FF was FFX. I just freaking loved the world and the characters and everything! XD
lol I kind of went all Fan-girl here. What are your fav games?
