Something similar to the first picture with the lines radiating from the center would make a good thumbnail. Generally in making thumbnails what you want is not a 10/10 painting. What you want is a composition that catches the eye like strong constrasts clear outlines and silhouettes etc. I would show you my thumbnail for my series but i cant upload pictures for some reason sooo. here's some shameless self promotion smile My series3

The thing I love about thumbnails is that you don't need to spend a lot of time on it in order for it to be effective.
Here's a shitty catroon dog I made like 2 seconds ago

it says LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME AND HOW INTERESTING I AM DON'T U WANNA CLICK ON ME

Because I used complimentary colors and exaggerated lineweights. Aye that's the secret. The colors are bright and saturated and contrast each other. I recommend whatever your character's colors are, the background should be the complimentary color (for human skin colors this is usually blue) The icon itself should be simplistic and given less detail than usual, as well as be brighter than how you usually color your comic. As a tip, a potential audience is more likely to see and remember a thumbnail with a front-facing face with an exaggerated expression and/or bold text (though for tapastic icons I recommend adding art rather than text).

Your last icon is definitely the best of the three given the factors I blabbed about above, the only thing I recommend is to vary the lineweights to make it stand out more. In general, icons that are bright, simplistic, and appear to be exciting tend to do better than things that are dark, complex and subtle. Anyway, hope I could be helpful in some way! feel free to PM me if you need an extra pair of eyes :>

Heyy!!

The one that captivated me more was the first one!

But the 2 others options give it more a comedy look!

The first one is more ambiguous if is a humor comic or some time of horror story!

But since you use a lot of dark humor on your series so I thought it looked cool!

A good thumbnail for me is simple, has to give a simple message what type of comic it is and has a good contrast/balance of color!

A good color using always helps to make your comic pop up from the rest! smile
