Help newbie! To comics (cropping/layers/sizes)

Anyone work with clip studio pro. I am trying to make my first comic short and I find myself googling everything and still not finding the answers I need is anyone willing to give me like a zoom or face book call and walk my through the basics lol.

Example: I made skyline back ground that's is cute behind a comic window panel thing lol. And when I imported the image it keeps all the white extra and I have no clue how to do ANYTHING on here. I have been on here for 3 days trying to figure thigs out lol!

Could you please provide screenshots of your issue? I use CSP, but I'm not sure I understand the problem you're experiencing.

I am just so new I am dumb about everything! But in this case importing image I can't figure out how to re crop it to remove the white border it loaded with I need like a basics crash course.

I agree with XiuLyn_12 that I do not quite understand what you trying to troubleshoot in CSP. Providing a screenshot of your CSP project would help figure stuff out.

But anyways here's some notes that might be helpful anyways.

(1) For "importing" pictures, I usually just copy-and-paste the picture file (png or jpeg) into CSP and adjust picture size from there.

• Open picture file in CSP. Ctrl+A to select whole picture. Ctrl+C to copy.
  (in example below. "MISC1.png" is picture to import into CSP project file "something"
  

• Go to CSP project file. Ctrl+V to paste. Picture will be copied into CSP project file as new layer.
  

• Use a selection tool (looks like dashed line shape, or ctrl+A to select all) in whichever layer you want to resize. A gray box with some options to edit this selection should pop up. Resize with scale/rotate.
  

• In your case, you can try erasing the white border in the layer.

(2) Alternative setup for making comics. So I am more familiar with working in CSP as an illustration project rather than comic project, so I use layers for panels rather than whatever comic-making tools CSP has.

Roughly block out panel area on "PANEL" layer and draw lines around panel in separate "PANEL BORDER" layer above. Clip everything that should inside comic panel to "PANEL" layer. See below for example.

This is very helpful, even for me! Haha! I think you have understood the issue correctly!

Try the selection tools @lizardlullabye showed! You can crop unnecessary white borders that way.
Or better, you resize the background you made to its canvas size or export it in transparent PNG if you don't want it to lose quality!

Okay this is the example I put down a background that I think would look nice to lay down behind the panel once I place the pre-made panel that I used in the software that I already figured out and no better but I don't know how to use the formatting like I would for clip studio to create the scrollable feature to make it readable as a web novel which is why I'm switching over to clip studio but I create the art on the other one I know it's confusing anywho the art I try to import has a white barrier around it and I don't know how to remove that white barrier to show the background that I created now

Also everything I tried to do I keep getting this little circle line thing pop up like I tried to erase the edge thinking maybe I could just do it that way it would take longer but regardless like I genuinely have no clue what I'm doing

I'm not too familiar with that layer icon. but it seems to be changing the image to a property that's preventing you from editing it. When you right click the layer, does it allow you to click the rasterize option?

EDIT: Did some poking around, the icon means that the image is a vector layer. So rasterizing i will make it editable.

I confirmed Humbug's suggestion. Rasterizing the layer should make it editable.

On a side note, your imported image does NOT look like it has transparency as seen from the layer preview, so the "extra" white will always be part of the image when you import it. Alternatively, you may try saving an copy with transparency to import, though I haven't the foggiest how that is done on a non-drawing tablet.

(I don't know how to use that type of tablet! )

Your layer is currently in vector layer state. Try converting it to a rasterized layer.
