I feel it's because it's not as concrete as the NBA. There, they're looking for more physical skills. Here, where a lot of things are a bit more subjective, it's not as easy to get picked. Tapas, and other sites, want to feature comics they feel would bring it readers.
But what does that mean? Because overall, we have seen different ideals of featured comics. Does it have to do with art style? Story format? Would you have to personally change something to be featured, and even then after doing that, would you still even be picked?
Even if you followed the format they "say" would get you featured, and people have done that in the past, you're not guaranteed to get featured.
At least on my end, I'm quick to give the other paths because those are more realistic. Like, we're all in the same boat, and a good number of us know a creator's not gonna get thousands of readers within weeks; not unless you've already had that many viewers beforehand.
