Hi. I'm working on uploading my first series and I had some questions. Hopefully some kind stranger can offer me some advice.

I'm sure someone on here can help, but you gotta ask the questions so we can help you out. smile

I didn't even notice. I typed my questions. Not sure what happened but thanks for the heads up.

I make a 3 panel horizontal layout comic. Do I need to redo them as a vertical layout to post them here? Is there a maximum width or image size guideline for posting my comic here?
When I create my first series there is a spot for thumbnail and description. Is that for the whole series or will I be making a thumbnail and description for each comic.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I'll try my best to tackle each question?

  1. With the horizontal page layout, 940 x 4000px is the maximum file size and up to 2mb. You'll see it on the side when you put your new comic up. As long as it fits in this window you should be okay. Tapastic really pushes reading comics on mobile so while you can upload horizontal comic (and some do) you might want to take the vertical layout into consideration.

  2. I personally use the same thumbnail for my comic until I enter my chapter 2 but it isn't necessary. Some people put a new thumbnail every page, and some use the same one the entire duration of their comic. You have a few options there.

Can't really think of anything else, someone else might have some more advice to throw your way. Check out some FAQs or any questions that may have been posted in the forums too.

Thanks. Do you happen to know if I can add a banner at any time or just when the series is created?

I know you can change it anytime after the series is created. I'm just not sure can upload without having one initially, if that's what you're asking.

To expand on @allenthomas' point regarding your comic layout:

I would strongly advocate for you to make your comics in a vertical layout. I can't speak for Tapastic's traffic but I do know that my own website's visits are nearly evenly split between mobile and desktop users. More and more people are visiting sites on devices other than desktop size and you want to have a layout that is readable across multiple screen sizes. In fact, Google now takes into account the mobile-friendliness of your site and uses that as a factor when calculating your search pagerank. So, it's important!
