Just a word of advice, try to steer clear of civil topics such as politics or religion. I made the mistake of posting a thread like that, and people didn't respond very well. Instead, try to focus on subjects such as pop culture, art or even forum games. You can also participate in forum 'event' activities to help boost recognition.

Hi @GlenMiles! Welcome to the forums, and a belated welcome to Tapastic! Your comic looks lovely! Keep up the great work!

When my team and I started here we were kinda leery of the forums, but making friends here has made so much of a difference for our comic. The community is really so helpful and sweet for the most part. I'm so glad you're here!

I'm C. I run my teams tapastic page here, and we've only been up for almost five months. We've done really well here too! I do most of the writing and the ink and paint for our comic Kamikaze.

It's made by a team of three, and is kind of a sci-fi dustbowl cyberpunk series. Think MadMax meets Batman Beyond and you're in the right ball park!

@jayorten Well Rickety Stitch just won my heart in the first three pages, insta-subscribed to that one, so thanks for that. As for subjects on political/social issues I believe if navigated judicially I'm sure friendly conversation could be managed. Of course this may just not be the place though, who knows. I'll consider what you've said though.

@getsuart Thank you kindly. Not quite sure, I guess just a nudge in the right direction for how to navigate Tapastic. It's pretty intuitive, but I don't know.....any added advice for reaching out as much as possible. And not just in the sense of growing my readership, but also connecting with the various creators here. Sorry if that's vague, I just know I want to make the most of my time on Tapastic.

@Kamikaze Thank you very much for stopping in and welcoming me to the site, your teams series Kamikaze looks very well crafted and the style is reminiscent of the series I grew up with as a kid such as Static Shock and The Zeta Project. I also really dig that you guys are producing a story that has both representation for women and people of color, that sort of work is always important in my opinion. I'll be sure to keep an eye on Kamikaze.

But the best advice I can give you to create bonds with creators is to talk with them, read their story, being polite, etc, etc. Just like you would make pals IRL ! Creators are like you after all

I've been on Tapastic for about a year and a half now. I think this is wonderful place. Usually I find it really difficult to get my work out there (example smackjeeves I was on for a few years and I have 25 followers) but however they set up this site, they did an amazing job for the viewers and for he creators!

My comic is called "confessions"
The short short plot is boy (Rick) has crush on guy (Thomas) but the issues is it's 1978 in a small town. It's actually the backstory of my two secondary characters that are the dad's of my main character from my novel. So, it's more slice of life then anything else.

Reading you comic now! Looks awesome! Can't wait to see more!

@bsienk90 Hey thanks a bunch, your series confessions looks really good as well. Fantastic art. I love the appeal of Tapastic as well, it's so streamlined it takes a heavy burden off the creator and allows us to just focus on content and networking. Definitely the best experience I've had sharing art since my early DA days.

@CaptainJuuter Lance X Saber looks dope. Love the whimsical anime influences, I also like your rendering. The colors are very sharp, I dig it. Thanks for the welcome, I've also been enjoying connecting with the community these last few days, it's refreshing (if a little distracting) I haven't engaged with other creators like this in a few years.

@Redthic Love the title of your series, instantly piqued my interest. I'm super into movies myself, I like the usual mainstream stuff from time to time such as superhero films and the recent Mad Max, etc. But I really like to dig into the obscure, stuff by directors like Alejandro Jodorowsky, Lars Von Trier, and Terry Gilliam to name a few. I like going through the Criterion Collection's archive. I'm also super into comics, but I haven't been able to read as many as I'd like. I read a bunch of webcomics, Der-shing Helmer being one of my favorite creators at the moment with her Series The Meek and Mare Internum , But I really dig Abbadon's Kill Six billion Demons and Jake Wyatt's Necropolis. I have a soft spot in my heart for anime, but I've kinda become jaded regarding newer series. It's hard for me to relate with the bulk of the new stuff. But I still believe there are some gems out there.

@thegearpunk I'm going to go and look at your teaser anyhow, with a name like the gear punk I'm curious what you're withholding. Thanks for your interest, and I appreciate you coming in to greet me. ^_^

Haha. Thanks! It's sort of inspired by late night tv movies and those last than perfect analog years. Sort of an aesthetic I wanted to use.

Oh yeah, mainstream stuff is great but I'm also someone who likes a little more obscure stuff since it is often crazy interesting narratively and visually. (Though Mad Max Fury Road is one of those rare mainstream films that gets to that amazing place you don't get with a lot of big studio work.) I really like Jodorowsky but I've only seen two of his movies so I can't consider myself a super fan just yet. I'm a big fan of Lynch, Gilliam, Cronenberg, Anderson as well as Miike, Wright, and others who I'm forgetting at the moment. I just got a bunch of Criterion during that Barnes and Noble sale so I'm going through those. (Just started Naked Lunch last night.)

As for comics, I read some Marvel but I'm more of a fan of smaller press stuff for the same reason as I like smaller studio movies. A lot of Oni Press' line up is pretty great like Hopeless Savages, Blue Monday, and the not really obscure Scott Pilgrim. Around here, I'm a big fan of a lot of things. I really like R:ILPERSONA, Owl Turd Comix, and Will Draw for Food to name a very few since there is really a lot of great stuff to read on Tapastic.

Haha, dude. We are very similar. I have a lot of trouble getting into a lot of new stuff and might find a series a season that holds my attention. I'm a big fan of stuff from the 80s-90s, with some random 2000s and up thrown in there.
