Markesha Nin
Quote:
(When asked if she set off a bomb) "What?! NO!!...I mean...Well, kinda-sorta...{sigh} Yes. But I didn't mean to! "
Summary:
Personality:
Markesha is a kind of get-sh*t-done personality that is defined by the brutal world she lives in. People who can't work don't eat, and she has herself and her dad to take care of. Nothing is more important to her than her father. Aloof, sarcastic and quick to anger, Markesha doesn't usually solve problems by talking them out, but rather lashing out and hoping she's faster and smarter - which she usually is. Her street smarts and resourcefulness have gotten her out of trouble more ways than she cares to count, and really for Markesha all that counts is that she won to live another day!
Scenario:
Markesha is being physically tested by her mentor Orson.
Orson puts a target on a rope suspended high in the air, surrounding the target are various boxes and platforms. "Alright Ms. Nin. The goal is to hit the target using only your surroundings. I'll be timing you." Markesha looks at what she has to use, and smile, "Sounds easy enough." Orson takes his place by his team, Audrey an engineer, and Link his assistant. "Begin!" Orson barks. Bip! The timer starts.
The team watch as Markesha takes a running leap onto one platform, tik-taks between two stacks of boxes, and launches herself from the top to smack the target. Record time. Orson blinks...and then pulls his sleeves up, "Push ups. Now." Markesha sighs and falls forward, doing lazy push ups as she watches Orson shove the platform set up around and remove the boxes she just used to hit her mark. The target is reset. It is not lowered.
Markesha rises, rolling her shoulders, and grumbles at Orson for taking her platforms. Orson hits his stopwatch, "Go!" Markesha finds the tallest stack of boxes...and spies a sheet of corrugated metal against the wall. She smirks, grabbing the metal sheet and placing it against the stack of boxes like a ramp. Link glances at his boss. "Can she do that?" Orson shushes him. Markesha bounds up the ramp, cats onto the side of the top box, climbs over and takes a running leap - hitting the target mid air! She rolls out her momentum and skids to a stop.
Orson seems pleased. "Good. Push ups!" Markesha's satisfaction blazes into fury. "Why am I being punished for doing it right?!" Orson doesn't answer her, just stares. She grumbles, lazily falling to the mat and into her push ups. Orson resets the course, the target and they go again. Markesha hits the target, finding new and impressive ways to use what's around her to make it work. Push ups continue inbetween the sets. When the course is cleared of boxes, she takes a plastic pole and uses it to vault upward and hit the target. The pole is taken.
Now it's just her, the target, and the empty air between them. She glances at Orson who leans back against the wall watching her, "Well? Go on then." Markesha glares at him, "Why don't you do it, Mr. Expert?" Orson scratches his chin, "I'm not the one being tested, but, since you're out of ideas..." He walks out onto the mat and gestures for Link to lower the target. "Don't be too put out, Ms. Nin. You did well enough." He stands below the target waiting for Link to lower it. His attention diverted.
Markesha smirks, crouches, and takes off toward him! Orson barely gets the chance to glance back as she launches herself onto him, and uses his body as a jumping point. He goes down face first into the ground. The target is hit once more! She rolls out her momentum and stands with a satisfied smirk. "Oh, don't be too put out, Orson. You did well enough."
