This is great, nice intro and nice background in explaining everything within a chapter.

Thanks! They're mainly photos I took myself complimented by stocks and textures to fill in the blanks.

I mostly just draw over them and use several photoshop effects to achieve its looks like camera raw filter to reduce the details and increase vibrancy. I'm not sure if it can be called matte painting but I definitely apply some techniques similar to it.
