Ooh yes, I have a bunch of unknown tidbits about my characters! Usually I'll just save them for supporters on Patreon or in one instance I put a couple tidbits about a new character that I added to my extras series.

I have a few asexual/aromantic characters but it never comes up in conversation in their respective stories. So I guess I'll just list them here.

from Demon House
Faiza Zamani: ace/grayromantic
Ghost: ace/aro

from Sarota Springs
Ellery Church: graysexual/aro
Ivaylo: pan/aro

from At Ease
Harvey Brandt: ace/biromantic

A million of hidden things in my stories haha. One think I’ll share is that the main antagonist isn’t who you think it is...

Hmmmmm, well, for starters, I really want to put somewhere in the comic about how the main character, Landon Marks, had gone to college to become an artist of some sort. He use to be so different before things happened in his life with his parents passing. I REALLY want to find a place to put the info, like, a chapter where Duncan (his best friend from college) can maybe help clear things up about why Landon never smiles. Just, really, I need to figure out a place for it all!

There were a lot in Crow's Worth1. Some of them were going to be reveled later...but the series is on hiatus so I don't know when that was going to happen.

Here is some...
* Crow Worth is bisexual.
* Miss Oh is asexual but biromantic. She is very monogamous.
* Noodle was born a full grown child, he doesn't age, he has no birth sex yet his mother gendered him male.
* Shoo-Fly and Pan are related. Pan's father and Shoo are half brothers.

Oh actually with the new story, Death & Flowers, The Prince is actually bisexual/pan and fell in love with his best Lie not because he's a man but because he has a trait that he's attracted too.

Could always share them as little bonus chapters or shorts for holidays or whatever.

The MC from my novel, True Faith, changed her name shortly after high school. From Danbi to Julian because her surname is Park, and her inItials were "DP". Got teased a lot for it and wanted to leave that nickname in the past. She chose Julian because she's always been fond of the name, though not the female variations. She also thought it would generate less bias against her if would be employers assumed she was male.

Her mother never got over the name change and refuses to call her anything but her birth name, which just so happens to be her grandmother's. Dad calls her DJ

  • Azzurra's name means blue, and it's also the most hipster name ever. It's also meant to be ironic.
  • Mr Fulton's (the owner of Upswing) design is based off of the jazz director at my school.
  • Frances will date anyone who makes eye contact with her. (yes, that IS a threat)
  • Frances' trumpet is named Lucifer, after her idol.
  • Britt and Sasha (side characters) are lightly based off of my friends

For upcoming characters:
-Renee is a walking tribute to Eartha Kitt.
-Seymour's name is a reference to that one song from Little Shop of Horrors.

This is an excellent topic idea.

I have a lot of hidden facts which I'll probably put into a little extra later on. They could actually go into the comic but I think it's more fun if they're like Easter Eggs.

Set is a vegetarian, his favourite food is salad, but he will not eat salad with any kind of dressings as it gives him unpleasant memories that involve being tricked into eating his own semen. Obviously there's a reason the last bit is not directly addressed in the comic.

Readers that know the lore behind the gods the characters are based off of might catch on, those that don't will most likely never see it.

so much. so muuuuch. im hoping a lot of my characters' background will be revealed in time, but im still figuring out how (preparation ftw!) its a question of how much is relevant to the plot, which im not sure. theres a lot of juicy character tidbits id like to explore in smth like filler episodes, but given my current pace i do not have time for filler episodes (slow burn ftw!). for example, my character Cath was believed to be a changeling by her family when she was little, and because her mother defended her, they both had to leave their hometown.

I've got quite a bit of backstory for my characters! Some of it will be revealed in later chapters so I can not spoil but others will be saved for the sequel series.
I can tell you a bit, though - stuff that's not gonna ruin any story.

Radical Jason is Mexican - His father was a US citizen but his mother immigrated illegally and was deported during his youth. His real name is yet to be announced. He is bisexual.

Luna (design to be revealed soon) is Taiwanese. She's homosexual.

Sassy Bartender was originally going to be ace but I settled for homosexual after fully developing her backstory because it becomes a major plot point in her life. She's also not human (I mean her skin is literally grey), but I won't tell what she is yet!!!

Blenny Common is 17 years old. He's an alcoholic who is completely reliant on martinis. He's actually stronger when he drinks, and if he sobers up the hangover is enough to knock him out completely. He comes from the highly influential Common family, who are all named after fish and are also all alcoholics like he is. His younger sister, Tewna, is 14 and drinks vodka directly from the bottle.

Personally, I try to keep stories as "tight" as possible. I do develop my characters to the best of my ability, but when it comes to their pasts and the reasons why they're the way they are, that tends to fall by the wayside because it's not really relevant to what's going on in the plot. But I do think about it, and I often delve into the backstories of the characters even if I don't actually explore them in the actual comic.

My characters in Biophilia are full of stuff like that:

-Pedro had a very neglectful and unsupportive mother who would spend much of her time berating him. As a child, during a visit to the zoo, she wasn't at the place she said she'd be when he returned from the toilet. He wandered off a bit, distracted by the animals, and when she found him she yelled at him in front of a bunch of people, disregarding the fact that she was the one who wasn't waiting at the predetermined place. Pedro felt thoroughly humiliated by this and never really forgot that day. His only good family relation is with his grandmother.

-Shigeo was raised by his mother to be successful and nothing but, even at the cost of everything else in life. She taught him to completely ignore other people and dehumanize them in order to get rid of emotions that could hinder him in fullfilling his full potential. Shigeo's father was vehemently against this, and this deep rift in opinions led to their divorce.

-Natalia knew a person who commited suicide in elementary school, and it had a profound effect on her outlook as she grew older. She would never turn her back on someone she knew was in distress after that, and she always tried to give people the benefit of the doubt, even if they were colossal turds.

-Mihail is an only child, and his father wanted to raise him to be tough and masculine, which didn't go well with his more introverted, meek character. Mihail trained a lot of martial arts as a child and is quite good at defending himself. He is also very lean and muscular, but doesn't like to show it because he feels his body looks brutish and doesn't reflect who he is inside.

If you want to see all of those peeps in action, here's a link:

For Bright Light, the focus was much more on the characters and their history, so a lot of their past does get covered in the story proper. I don't think there's any backstory elements that won't come up at some point in the comic, so I'm not putting any of it here.

A lot of background information does come into play in Tempest Red1 , but there are a handful of things that aren't ever bluntly expressed. Also most of these characters haven't been introduced yet, but that really won't matter haha

Sephrisse has never met her parents (as is custom in Tasnhein culture), but we HAVE seen her mother already, and it wasn't the Empress. She is also a Heteromantic Demisexual.

Hywel is Pansexual

Genro is Heterosexual

Sierra is Bisexual

Engel is Homosexual

Enric is Heterosexual

Adelina is an unrealized Bisexual, but identifies as Heterosexual.

Remus is Homosexual

All of the major characters in Ice Princess have names that mean their element or something related to their element (Dawn is easily assosiated with light.) I continued this in the following instalments (not yet posted on this site) with everyone except the princess in the third story. I just liked the name Amali.

A) yes, many times. While is not the right moment to reveal some of this information, i drop subtle hints about those future revelations or do cameos of future characters in the background. That way, everything will make sense in hindsight and can be a source of crazy theories about my comic. I like giving my stories a "re-read value".

B) 1-Rocky has a hidden sensitive side.
2- Kimura has never talked to a woman until he met Jenny.
3-Jenny doesn`t know anything about powers and magic. She did not knew it even existed until she knew about the oracle.
4-When monks in the temple of Shan-pu discover their secret power, they get to customize their uniform. Finding out about your secret power is not common.
5- There is an explanation between the technological differences witnessed in the comic.

This is a massive spoiler, and i just dropped one hint about it that probably wasn`t noticed yet, so:
Spoiler Alert!!

and just in case Yeah, spoiler alert!!

Summary

Rocky is not the only rock that survived the invasion.

Well heres some facts from My Comic:

  • Japhin doesn't know any form of magic despite being raised among wizards. He understands practical and down to earth things like math and building stuff but waking up at 4 am on a full moon and mixing potions and bones is incomprehensible to him because it doesn't involve thinking just .・。゚・゚listening to your heart and feelings.*・。゚.

  • Lanet and Mirona's names are an amalgamation of various demon names. Sufret is the same but Instead combining various names for religious occupations.

  • The world is kinda inspired by urban life through the end of the cold war to now.

  • Japhin and Sufret were in relationship once but that ship is dead ( ཀ ʖ̯ ཀ)

I have so many characters and so much story to tell that I have to cut a lot of stuff out in order to keep the plot going. Sometimes even things that are interesting have to be cut, including scenes that I absolutely love but don't really move the plot at all.

My solution for this has been to make short extra comics that I post separately from the main comic. It's also nice to have an outlet where I can be a little less serious with the characters and just have fun. (Unfortunately I don't have as much time to spend on the short comics as I'd like and I tend to have a whole bunch of unfinished comics on my computer just waiting to be finished. Too many ideas, too little time.)
Also recently I made a huge anniversary info dump where I just told a whole bunch of little details about the characters and the world that I couldn't really show in the comic itself. I was so worried that no one would care what the characters eat or things like that but my readers liked it! I might actually make more info dumps in the future.

alot of my characters GodTown have hidden backstories I like to drop hints at what happened to them in the past that's relevant to their behavior. for example the father is a single father. but it's never mentioned why exactly he never found the right woman. so when any of his daughters mothers are mentioned something ties back to them and him in a negative way regarding him just not wanting to be with anyone. it's fun to do.

Yes. I didn't get a chance to go over what the main characters daily lives were like before the story began. I hope to have go more into their backstory and facts besides major events from their past. I'm going to be exploring the backstories of the side characters and have things revealed about them throughout the narrative. Even if it isn't necessarily important to the plot, just cute facts about them like their favorite things or how they enjoy spending their free time. Things like that. I think that stuff helps flesh out the characters and helps the audience understand who they are.
