an hikikomori is a term for a person, typically in Japan, who withdraws from society and isolates themselves at home for extended periods, often due to social anxiety, depression, or pressure. they may avoid school, work, and social interactions, spending most of their time alone, often engaging in solitary activities like playing video games or browsing the internet. it is said to be considered a serious mental health issue that may require therapy and support for reintegration into society.
even though this term is Japanese, this can apply worldwide, as others across the globe are this type...including myself, i suppose. i have been this way for years and i'm in my late 20s.
i go to therapy--just went today, as a matter of fact. trying to break out of this 'prison' i'm in, trying to manage without being overwhelmed too easily as always.
but haven't met anyone on the same boat though, personally...
anyways, even though i'm naturally an introvert to the core, i don't want to be a shut-in anymore
