Ah yes our creaky floor, not quite fitting windows and banging pipes cant be slightly unnerving even to us who are used to it. (Funfact: until we recently had it replaced our boiler and pipes would make wailing noises in the night and stranger vibrating rhythmic bangs, it was a little unnerving in the middle of the night even knowing what it was). And that's without going into the houses that you're pretty sure are being held up with hope.
But that does bring me to another horror trope I love. The Alien Geometries. For those unaware, think TARDIS applied to horror. I love it so much. House Of Leaves creeped me out so much. Made very little sense but I was slightly paranoid about my walls for a good few weeks after that.
