Look, I don't know you and you don't know me but things are just starting today at my time. I'm a clean slate but what about you? How have things been? Any plans for the week? I like your spirit but don't make this weird.

Well I just got PUMPED to work on my own comic!!! HAH XDD

Well honestly I'm a quick worker and that does not come without sacrifice. I have a lot of stories in me and the only way they come out is by my dedication plus abuse of my hands and brain. It's not easy but I'd rather be doing it than letting those thoughts sit. We all work at different paces. Just because I'm revving my engine does not inherently mean you are slow.

But what about you? Have a comic series of your own you would like to share?

I'm re-watching the Trinity Killer arc of Dexter and remembering why I preferred the books. One of the better seasons, but I forgot how really uninteresting the supporting cop staff was. Haven't slept. Artist is doing lines for this week's update, I'm working on the next issue's script. Productivity is go; sort of waiting to hear back from an Oni Pitch we sent out to see if we need to work on that more or not.

Just uploaded a mini-comic we got published in a zine a few years back outlining the parents of the girls. They've been mentioned quite a bit in the comic proper, and we've not really hidden the old links to the comic. Helps set up the themes without spoiling anything we haven't reached yet. Personally they've got a nice bit of levity compared to their kids.

Also just realizing tapastic (which I keep spelling as taptastic, as though it were a fantastic tap session) doesn't let one re-arrange episodes; which is a function that'd be super useful and that seems like it wouldn't be too hard to implement. Still, much nicer set up here than what I had.

Dexter just stabbed a man, I'm rambling. Need some comics to distract myself.

Well, as I mentioned to Serenitysquirrel, I'ts all about dedication coupled with a bit of compulsion. Maaaaybe it helps that I have severe ADD so every single second in my head is like a channel switching to something else. I'ts not easy and I give up a lot of time and energy before and after work to make it happen, but in the end I'd rather be doing it than letting the ideas just sit. Oh, I'm slow. Wasted about 3-4 hours Thursday on a page because I couldn't get the panels the way I liked on a row. BUT, slow is ok right now as my series is for practice. I've got good faith in the story, and the world is EXTREMELY developed but there's alot of learning to do. Currently, I can't quite draw many of the particulars I'd like to express, and continually try to work around it and dabble. Always trying to improve and find out what works for me. Seriously need to get better at figuring out page layouts.

As for sleep, it's not on purpose. I normally work evenings and this is a very random 8 am shift to cover someone. That meant not getting to sleep till about 11 last night and then when I woke up around 430 am I was all "skrew this. I'm not going to be able to get back to sleep. Let's play WoW."

Never watched Dexter. I dunno, just was not my cup. I'm sorry they had a book series though?! I don't know why that is surprising to me! SHUT UP! Well productivity is nice but hopefully you won't suffer any whiplash on the no-sleep schedule.

You're not alone with tapastic. I keep it spelling it that way too for some unknown reason. Just feels right.

I'm sorry they had a book series though

Books are a lot more like a dark comedy. Dexter's completely robotic and depraved, Deb's foul mouth is a bit more charming, and the kills are certainly unique. Plus there's some cool supporting cast types, like a man named Chutsky who is essentially a Man in Black who seems aware of Dexter and gives it some tacit approval.

Books came first, whole first season shifts away from the book towards the end. Actually a fun read, has a lot more craft to it.

There will likely be whiplash. There's always some whiplash.

Today, I'm at least a little more chill than I was a few weeks back. Spent that time stressing over my lack of progress as a comic artist and everything... But I decided to dabble in a few new things for a bit and managed to revive my interest. Kinda feels like a odd curse was lifted.

Well hey, I think a lot of us reach that point. It's human to stare at the progress we make, the response, and reception from ourselves and others. Sometimes it can get us down but the point is that we at least examine ourselves. All a matter of rising from the stress and possible doubt. Hell yeah it's a curse. An artist's curse.
