How can I find a webcomic artist (unpaid)?

I wanted to try turning my novel into a webcomic for a while now, but I haven't been able to find one. I can't afford to pay for one, I am willing to share profits, but if they need to leave the project for whatever reason that is okay. Is there any websites or forums or something?

I have already tried reditt and the tapas forums.

Also, I don't know anyone personally who would be willing to help me.

Your best bet is probably to continue to engage in the community and make friends. Then maybe, possibly, you will one day know someone personally who'd be excited to work with you

I think you could try different ways to market your story (more than just posting a link) to get more eyes interested in your work, find people that believe in your project, and are willing to devote their time to building your vision.
You could also share your social media. I think if you are an exciting and fun person, there might be people that just want to work with you.

The thing is, unless an artist is hugely amazed by your novel, and your novel is already doing well enough and has its own reader base... It'll be hard to find someone to do it for free.

Just one panel usually takes hours.

Making a comic is really labor intense.

So you need to think about what you can offer to make this attractive. Since "why should they draw your comic if they could illustrate their own story"

If it's important to you to have this story in comic Form and you have no friends who will do it because it's be fun working together with a friend... Then you probably won't get around considering actual page wise payment.

If your novel already has a dedicated reader base you could probably partially appeal with shared profit... But that won't replace the pay per page

I would collab for free but only if I had creative input before the story is written, meaning I would want
to create characters, plot ideas and have influence on the world/genre which will be created by the writer-
I don´t think anyone wants to draw someone else´s story, spend hours on it every day without getting paid
for it. People lose the interest pretty fast when they can´t connect

It's just not realistic to hope/expect a total stranger to be interested in donating hours and hours of their time for free on a project they have no connection too, and no reason to expect profit from.

The best way is to work hard and save money to pay an artist.

Otherwise, work hard at the craft of writing, and consider seeking an artist to collaborate on a short one shot. If someone was going to donate free time, it's way more likely to be on a project that could be done in a month, rather than indefinite years. Assume a minimum of one week per page (five panels).

But still, think carefully about how you'd feel if a total stranger wanted you to spend 10-20 hours a week working for them with no pay. How would you feel having your labor and time valued so little?

Edit: also want to add in good faith, I checked your previous post in collaboration, and you really never even explain what your story is about. A list of anime you like is not a pitch. You should take the time to clarify what your story is without referencing anime or other properties. Who is the protagonist? What is the conflict? What is the content of this story?

I always assumed the artist I worked with would have some ideas they want added and we would talk about it. I never thought I would have 100% control of everything.
