All right! This is an exciting thread. My current comic is called Spidersilk for a few reasons. There was a working title before this, but another comic of the same exact name launched in that same week; we had no previous knowledge of each other! My reasons for that name were loose and frankly quite stupid, so I let it go after a few months and did some mind mapping. I came up with Spidersilk and the comic took off.
Reasons. Take the word apart and you get spider silk. The main characters are thieves, and the thieving system is separated into two branches: spiders and serpents. The characters I speak of are in a spider cell called Orbweavers and, well, surprise, their cover is as weavers. So, there's the silk!
Take the word apart after the second s and you get spiders ilk, as in spiders and their sort (which would include the serpent cells and all other characters affiliated with the main cast).
Spider silk is extremely strong; I like to think about that in regards to the characters and their ties to each other. And like spider webs, their connections range from simple to complicated, chaotic, beautiful, etc. I am really into characters and how they relate to each other and wanted the name to reflect that.
Also I just love spiders.
