Mine came from a few different sources. Before I came up with the idea for Tethered, I was inundated with art jobs for other people, that I became frustrated that I had nothing of my own. At the same time, my sister (who's in a wheelchair) was often looked at like she was different, and spoken to like she had the mind of a 4 year old (which is ridiculous! All that's different is that she can't walk DX).
It was difficult seeing her in that situation, especially when she got upset...I wanted to create a story that eventually gave people an idea of what it is like to have a disabled family member that people treated differently. And how not all injuries are physical, how people can over-come them, and how wonderful life can be despite it's hiccups.
Another aspect of Tethered that I am wanting to explore, is creating characters that will over-time, show strong bonds without including romance. I found a lot of comics seem to be driven on the sexual attraction towards others (when two adults are included), and being someone who personally doesn't fully experience this, I wanted to develop a way to show people what it's like.
I also have a love for science fiction, zombies, androids, the whole 'what-if' scenarios (I played a lot of games that gave me plenty of inspiration! - Fallout, The Last Of Us, Bioshock). Slowly the characters developed, the story grew, and I've not stopped since.
Well this post was a bit of a ramble! Anyhow, back to the day I suppose!
Take care,
Tasha!
