How did you get Paint Tool SAI?

I currently have Clip Studio Paint, it's a great art software! But I see a lot of people that use Paint Tool SAI so I said "Why not try it?" So I searched for the software and saw that it's free! At first, I was so excited at downloading it, but when I took a look at the details, it was just a trial and it was not available for Windows 10 (I use this OS). I was worried at how I could find a great art software since my license for CSP is going to end this year, I found other art software, but I think Paint Tool SAI is much better as an alternative, just in case.

the thing was that the SAI trial was, uh, indefinite... or something.
not much that can be done about OS incompatibilities. gotta hope an update will happen.
i have it since years ago but i never use it so idr much;;;

I got it from a friend years ago and just kind of kept the zipped file to whichever computer I had at the time.
Also, Sai does work on Windows 10 but you have to fiddle with the compatibility of it (I think I switched mine to windows 8?) so you don't need to worry about that bit

Paint tool Sai it is just really easy to crack and share. I bought mine from the main website. Unfortunately Paint tool sai lacks text control so I mainly use Photoshop CC. They are working on a new version that will add text and perspective rulers, it is going to be free for anyone who has the version 1 license. If money is an issue I suggest getting Krita and Gimp, they are actually free. What kind of CSP license did you get? did you buy it or was it an extended trial. I bought mine for $19, 3 years ago and it still works. Also I have windows 10 and I never have problems with Paint Tool Sai.

A friend shared it to me, it was a portable version and I started using it around 2013 when I had my old laptop with Windows XP, it was great and easy to use. Now I use Medibang but I can say I still can use SAI on my new laptop with Windows 8.1, it's the same version and I thought I'd have to download a new one but surprisingly, it still works.

Honestly, I would encourage you to renew your CSP-license. It's a great comics-making software, and it will do pretty much everything you ask of it.

Paint Tool SAI and others like it are just fine as art software, but CSP has a lot more tools specifically for making comics, and I doubt you're going to find a software that is all that much better than CSP.

That awkward moment when Paint Tool Sai technically isn't free XD It's just been passed around so much it's easy to find a free full version of it. That's how I ended up getting it, but I haven't used it in years.

However, if you have to go through all the trouble of reverting back to Windows 8 and changing compatibility settings, your better off sticking with Clip Studio o3o

yah I got what i think is an old version that has bounced around a few comps now. Yeah it's not supposed to be free, but a lot of people end up happening upon a cracked version. I'd say I'm using sai out of habit now but I really do like how it is set up.

Are you talking about a license you registered upon purchasing the software or a trial? Because I haven't heard of a CSP license expiring until now O_o; When does this license end?

Just as others have mentioned, it's probably better that you stick with CSP since its compatible with your OS. Plus, Smith Micro is known for having crazy sales ($15) for CSP (and Manga Studio EX4 in the past) at least twice a year in case you ever need to buy it again.

I use SAI to make comics and switch to Photoshop for texts. And as everyone else, I just use the cracked version that is passed around by everybody. Even if it doesn't have all the brushes you can just add them later or make your own, and the lack of transparent backround is not an issue if you use it together with Photoshop (backgrounds will be transparent in Photoshop!). And I have Windows 10, and I've never had any issues.

However, CSP has much more options. And you're already used to it. I would advice you to get the cracked version of SAI from someone or just use the trial one until CSP goes on sale. It's REALLY cheap when it's on sale! I've seen it for around 15 USD.

Or, you know, OP could get the proper version of SAI, and pay for it. Legally. Even if it's REALLY easy to get your hands on a cracked version of SAI, I don't think we should encourage OP (or anyone!) to use illegally obtained software.

I have CSP and PS, but I've thought about getting Sai(the few comics that I have seen done with this program I LOVE the colors); my only issue is that I'm still learning CSP, and I dont think I have the time to learn Sai- so I think I'll pass for now.

I Agree with @AnnaLandin

I use Sai as my primary drawing tool/illustration program. I love it. The official trial for Sai is free and last 30 days. Purchasing the license allows you access to a couple of additional editing options and any updates or patches that the software developers release as well as allowing you to share the program with other computers (up to 3 i believe).

I have had a lenience for Sai for about 5 years and I have made the purchase price back several times over with the works I've created using the program.
