I actually got the more views likes and everything else I've ever had on imgur http://imgur.com/gallery/8HfOpJ827 (110 upvotes) 10,000 views with 628 likes on facebook and 100 and something upvotes on 9gag all linked back to my tapastic site and... got a whole 30 views on tapastic out of it lol this game is tough

that's all from this one comic alone, I really don't have a clue what's going on, mabye people just don't like tapastic links or are afraid to click them because they don't know what it is?

hmm, what do you think i should do about the whole driving traffic to tapastic thing? it's been tough

I'm trying to make tapastic my main site too so that's not a bad idea, I think I'll definately start doing that from now on! thanks for the advice!

I think most new comers to Tapastic are turned off by the pop up login window that comes up when scrolling down a comic. Especially if they're visiting just to read one strip. Maybe consider making an official site for your comic, use that link on imgur and such, and provide a link back to your Tapastic series on your site. It's good to have an official site anyways.

I know a way but you won't like it.

It involves a contract, your soul and a red dude with horns.

Sorry, there was such an abundance of great advice, I just went with being silly. I'll go away now.

Do you have any marketing advice for us, perhaps? I've been trying to research that kinda stuff online, but it's pretty overwhelming : O

We actually do have stuff up on our podcast. You can listen to some stuff here10
There are so many comics starting every day. It's harder to be seen. I know we cover some marketing/advertising stuff on those.

What worked for us. 1. Advertising 2. Social Media 3. Consistent updates (last couple of years we have been hit or miss for pro work) 4. We got out to other media via press kits and press releases (my husband used to be a PR person at one job)

For us I know the key was advertising. It's harder now though because 1. More competition and 2. The lack of places to advertise on because they have taken down their boxes. you can still do it. Adwords works well (but can get $$)

Follow other comics, like other comics, comment on other comics. Other creators are usually appreciative of the engagement, especially if they're smaller too, so they'll usually check out who has been checking them out. Participating in the community in general can't hurt. Remember that the more you update, the more you will appear on the "Fresh" page. Keep updating, and keep it consistent, and it will happen

Lately I've notice that I've been losing subscribers here and there. Although it hurts .. x_x I still love making my comics. But I guess people like to troll like that.

I totally agree with everything you said...I noticed this trend of your description regarding staff picking as well because it is just so strong.....I remember they used to have "New and Hot" section on the front page but it's gone now..that section seemed a bit more fair in terms of getting everyone a more equivalent chance of exposure rather than having everything dependent on luck and the staffs' taste.....orz

I agree with your post for the most part. I do feel that the staff is a bit biased at the very least in regards to which comics they choose to make "popular". Sometimes it is one of those generic self insert slice of life comics, but I've also noticed that for every two-three of those comics the staff promotes, there is a non mainstream comic that also gets put on the front page so I guess that helps balance things out?

honestly, I play with my niche market for one (which is yaoi fans and people interested in reading about boy/boy). I also get on forums, promote off tapastic (like facebook etc), as well as start convos with other artist and I always answer back to commenters as well. That's pretty much all I do. Oh and I also link my comic on forums when it's appropriate.

I wouldn't get too discouraged, I think honestly some people just subscribe to things pretty indiscriminately at first, and then decide later on that the comic wasn't what they thought it would be. My subscribers have always surged and purged in waves
