How do you feel about fanart of your comic/novel?

Now personally I love it and accept all even when they didn't say anything about it beforehand, but there are artists who are scared or just don't like it when someone draws their oc without asking first

especially with "suggestive" fanart it's often a mixed reaction, you either hate it or love it depending on which character they did (I live it but ey I'm horny on main)

A fan-art is a fan-art. They took their time to draw something for free, how can anyone hate that?

If it's horny, I will be blushing like crazy. Sure, it will personally make me uneasy but I'd be way too happy to even pay attention to the unease.

I wish I'm famous enough to have fanart (lol) but I honestly wouldn't really mind a little suggestive arts of my characters -- unless my characters are minors. In that case, jail time.

But, well, fanart is fanart. I'd still appreciate the time and effort they put in.

I would be super happy in general to get fan art, as long as it's respectful. If it's vulgar, I wouldn't look at it because that type of stuff makes me uncomfortable, but I'd appreciate the compliment.

It is a good way to show appreciation for the work you like and receive the same.

I love to receive fan art from those that read my work and I also enjoy creating fan art for whose work I like to read, and I always ask first if they'd like some fan art from me..

Personally I would love it! But I have seen some authors feeling uncomfortable when the artist draws their personal ships for pair of characters that isn't the author's original ship

Personally I'm a big fan, which is why my end of chapter/milestone celebration was a fanart showcase.

It's really one of the biggest compliments a person can pay you in my opinion.

Racy/explicit stuff.... I'm fine with it so long as it's posted in appropriate places and I don't necessarily have to look at it. Also I definitely do not want to see anything racy of the underage, pre-timeskip versions of characters. That'd be a big nope. So long as people respect that this comic's content is largely around a PG13, I'm happy for them to celebrate consensual shipping and fun sexy times between the adult characters posted in places where underage or sensitive readers don't stumble on it without warning.

Honestly, I love it! I've received quite a bit of my Stellar and it makes me happy that people like my series enough to take time out of their day to draw my bbys.

The only time I'd dislike it is if my ocs were used in a fetish/porn story or anything offensive. (This hasn't happened though, thankfully!)

I'm okay with most stuff, though I do draw the line on fetish porn

I really love being on the receiving end, but getting fanart comes with the expectation of giving that person a written response.

I personally have a hard time translating my feelings into words. I don't want to come across as ungrateful, but it's hard for me to express my gratitude sometimes. Really can put me in an uncomfortable position sometimes

I dont know what kind of content creator acts petty when someone takes time out of their own day (or even days) to work on a fictional character they could have made of anyone in the world but chose theirs and still act like an entitled punk bitch about it.

I personally encourage any kind of artist to draw artwork of my characters no matter what they want. I had a brief period when I started where someone sent me porn of my characters that bothered me at first, but now I feel stupid about it now that time has passed. The fact to me is someones taking time to work on my characters so I should really be grateful no matter how it turns out. Only thing I dont like is that im too small to really give back to those people as far as shouting out.
