I got few new comments on my website (not a comic platform, but my comic's actual site). I've asked a few of them how they found my comic since I haven't been promoting it, but I think due to wordpress' notification system, I havent got an answer lol.

Where do you host your comics and how do your readers find them? where does the majority of readers come from?

I host my comic on Tapas and Webtoons, I also host it on my own website as well.

Initially I got some people on discord and some loyal followers on other websites to subscribe to my story on either Tapas or Webtoons. which got me around 25 subs on both to start with. From there it stagnated. Been a year now and I've only gotten 70 subs on Tapas, but recently I got promoted on Webtoons and gained over 500 subscribers there. I have no way of tracking my readers on my website so the site it less prioritized than Tapas and Webtoons but I still have my comic there in case things change. Anyway, I had been experiencing burn out since 6-7 months ago so I haven't been promoting my comic as much as I used to, I'm just kind of going with the flow of things. If I get promoted again by Tapas/Webtoons then that's good, if not that's okay too.

In conclusion, I'd say I have no idea where most of my readers come from but what I do know is I have some funny readers, they make me want to keep drawing my comic even when I feel like my story isn't worth their time. At the very least I have people who want to see the story till the very end. : )

I think casually posting around the forums have helped expose me to people who are just curious about me or what I do. I would say maybe just keeping a general presence has exposed my work to people who are interested.

There's also people i'm friends with who have a lot of their own fans. It's kind of weird how much it gets around without my knowing as I recall hearing that someone was asking about it secondhand, but I always just assume no one's reading even if I have evidence to contradict my negative thoughts. Other than that, I have no clue.

Haha my old version of my comic was featured on webtoon too. I didn’t know there was a “hidden gem” section and was confused for 2 days for my sub count. Definitely, it’s the viewers that regularly engage with my stories that encourage to keep going.

@nugtown yup! I have a few acquaintances who I don’t really even talk to regularly sending nice comments to my comic, which is super sweet

Instagram since I also post my comic strips there. Unfortunately, none of those Instagram views don't translate to Webtoon or Tapas subs, so I have to promote my comic elsewhere to get people to look at those platforms.
