busts thru wall I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED
Speed is really important to me so I time myself on every step using a spreadsheet lmao
This episode took me 4 and a half hours per panel:
You can see the breakdown of each step in the spreadsheet screenshot above. Coloring took me the most time on this one, because it was a pretty elaborate and paint-y scene. So since that page had 12 panels, it took me 54 hours to do that page
My most recent page took 3 hours per panel. There was less painting to do for this one than the previous example, but more time spent on thumbs per panel. This was because I was trying a new approach to page layouts, so there was a lot of rearranging and experimentation at the thumbs stage.
That all seems like a lot of time per page, but my first few pages (example) used to take me well over 10 hours per panel For anyone with speed issues, I highly recommend timing yourself so you can see where you're spending the most time. In earlier pages, I noticed that coloring was taking 3-4 hours per panel, so I simplified to a mostly-flats shading style. It's also nice to see yourself getting faster over time.
